You don't have to wipe, all of your settings will remain after the update.
    Don't download...

Ok tried installing 3.0.7. Never installed a rom before today and after installing both 3.0.7 and 8 when the phone restarts it goes to the rogers logo and stays there.

So here's what i'm doing. I put the zip on my sd card and rename it to update, I wipe my phone, I boot to recovery and apply the update, I let it finish and it restarts, and I get the white rogers logo and it just stays there.

    Any ideas?

Possible glitch: today i noticed when i tried to change my volume of my ringer via the side rocker that the bar on the screen stayed still at full while the volume changed, not the biggest deal, after around 5 min the bar was moving again

    Paul,

I've loved all the work you've done with your roms. I followed all of your updates from 3.0.0 -> 3.0.6. You got it working pretty darn good, but It just seemed like it was bloated or something. After boot I would kill all the apps that were running and it would run fine for a while. I would open up taskiller again later and see that some apps that I had closed were open again. I don't understand how/why they would open up by them self. I'm assuming it was that in turn that would cause my phone to get sluggish as it stayed running longer and longer. A reboot would fix it but it would just do the same thing over again.

Am I crazy or does anyone else notice this?

Anyways, I've went back HoFo ION. It's so zippy.

Thanks again and I will continue to try out new updates!

If speed and absence of lag is important to a person I don't see why they would even consider flashing to any Sense UI rom.

I tried it because Paul said he would stop updating hofo ion. I decided i might as well try his next rom. But like you say speed and lack of lag are important to me. So I went back to ion.

Ok I'm going to sound like an idiot, but I've read through this thread and the techie thread and I'm at a loss on how to install this rom (it is the only rom I've tried though)

So if someone could please let me know where I've gone wrong I would be greatly appreciative. I have the dream.

    -I rooted the phone
-I copy the zip archive over to the SD card and rename it update.zip
    - I boot to the recovery.img (here I'm not sure, do I have to boot it from fastboot, or can I just power it on while holding home?)
-In recovery (after a nandroid backup), I wipe the phone and apply the update through the menu.
-let it do it's thing and restart.

so far that has just left me with a phone that is stuck at the rogers splash screen. So I"m doing something wrong.

Are you sure it's stuck? It does take a while to boot up.

Sounds like you are doing everything right...

I'll give it another shot. I'll wait at least 10 mins (overkill)

On a related note is HoFo ION the 2.x.x series?
