Ok so I just tried the HoFo ION rom and it didn't work, did the same thing. So obviously something isn't going right, what would be the best forum to get help figuring this out (as this is obviously goes beyond just the rom here).

If you want to use the HoFo Ion rom, you may as well use Amon_RA's 1.6.2 rom or cyanogen's 4.3.2.1 roms, both are based on donut and are super stable because as far as i know, the Ion rom is just based on a basic cupcake romOriginally Posted by homeiss

just an a courtesy alert for everyone, if you want to have a MUCH better keyboard for this rom, thats FASTER/REPONSIVE and for most, much more ACCURATE
the NEWEST "better keyboard" v3.5.2 on market supports the HERO ROM, you can add words to the dictionary Etc etc (option to download a user dictionary add-on). which before this release i had to uninstall it since it lacked full integration and was so sad lol. BUT NOW ITS GREAT, and WAY faster than the HTC-ime
I use it for about a week. I find it to be better than HTC IME (more accurate) but not MUCH better...Originally Posted by elite_is3
Do you use a skin? I tried a few and so far, iphone skin (yeah, i know) is my choice because it looks more accurate.

well i guess even a little more speed and accuracy changed my personal experience with keyboards in a big way
i wasn't very fond of the symbol system on the HTC one, mostly because entering more than a couple numbers became cumbersome and also i misspell almost half the words when typing from the keys being smaller.
i used a couple skins over time and yea the iphone one is pretty decent. but i didnt find it to change anything outside of appearance too much
I am using the HoFO rom, I like it.. anyone had any luck setting Cisco VPN on this ROM?.. like vpnc... I have tried on other Roms without luck usually unable to enable the TUN interface, I read that this rom has tun enable, but I want to know if thre is anything I should know before I try or even better the steps to do it..
thanks

So anyone using the latest version of this ROM (well, 3.xxx) know how to limit the contacts in "People" to just "My Contacts" versus bringing in the whole damn list from gmail? It used to allow selecting of which lists to synch, but I cant seem to find the option in here... help?
On a sidenote, how is everyone else finding this ROM? Seems like there is a fair bit of bloat in there eating up resources but once that gets trimmed down... wow, Im sold.
I dont use it anymore but when in the contact app, look for Group Sync or something like that... It's there but burried....Originally Posted by spg01
Aha! Got it, thanks mate.
So you moved off of this one? Can I ask what you moved to and why? Im still hunting for my ideal ROM and this one is getting mighty close (again, minus the some of the bloat).
If you are looking for fast, less bloat, and stable as hell check out RAv1.6.3 (ION Donut based build, with all the basics and no fluff). If you want to pretty it up there are a bunch of themes tweaked specifically for it. One of the fastest 1.6 ROMs I know of.Originally Posted by spg01

The 3.0.7 Hero-based ROM is really pretty, and has a lot of functionality that the original lacked. It is a little bloated and keeps reloading a lot of programs after I Taskiller them, and the battery life does seem a little worse, but liveable.
I have encountered one problem though: about half the time I plug in a USB cable to charge (connected to computer), the phone reboots. The first time the USB debugging mode was active, but it has happened even with that mode unchecked. Otherwise, I'm lovin' it, great job and thanks for all the hard work.
I installed the ROM tonight, and it just happened to me too. I can easily circumvent the problem by taking out the SD card, but it would still be nice to fix this.Originally Posted by cole26
Anyway, thanks for a great piece of work. I can't wait to give it a real try.

Hofo 3.0.7 is a good ROM but I also went to Amon_RA's ROM since it's faster, give me batter battery life and is barebone. It's really fast.Originally Posted by spg01
I guess we will see Eclair 2.0 ROM in the next weeks since it has been released to AOSP.
I can also confirm the re-boot issue when I plug in the usb (i'm running 3.7).
Thanks for all your great work - I'm looking forward to seeing 2.0 - Is there an easy way to tell if my Magic is capable of running (2.0) necessary RAM etc?
Have you tried a wipe/reinstall of version 3.0.8 ?Originally Posted by xluthor
I have not had usb reboot issues but 3.0.8 is the more stable one i found for the applications.
Also using zortoflaven Hero keyboard settings it makes the build twice as snappy as it is (Update will make you lose Handwritting function which seems to slow the Magic).
The battery drain is not bad but i installed OverclockWidget and set the cpu to 128 when screen if off and the battery still run strong after 3 days.
