After unsuccessfully finding a good plan with a good company(tried them all) I am switching to Page Plus. Had VZW and they charge too much even for their cheapest plan. So yesterday I purchased a refurb Palm Treo 755p from Ebay from 70.00 dollars. I really wanted a blackberry curve 8330 but I called and was told that none of the blackberrys work on Page Plus. Bummer. So until the ban is lifted I will be using my Palm Treo.
to the guys using palm pre plus's from verizon...how were you able to dial *22890? Because I can't get past the profile creation page. I haven't initiated an esn change yet if that helps...

I believe once you register the phone's esn with PP you should be able to go through the normal registration steps that the phone ships with. In case that doesn't work there are ways to get to be able to dial that number manually. Here is what I did months ago for my pixi plus, http://wiki.howardforums.com/index.php/Pixi_Plus but again, I think the tricky steps 2+3 and 6 can be avoided.
Requesting help with suggestions for a replacement phone
Can anyone suggest a decent, relatively inexpensive ($50 - $100) phone that will definitely work on Page Plus and be very good for texting?
My son has been using a Moto Q9C since July and he has often complained about it. I use the same one and have no problems, but now he is getting "No Service" even though there is money on his account and it appears that his wireless settings are all turned on.
I have to get him another phone. Web isn't important and it doesn't need to be a smartphone, but it does need to be reliable and good for texting, preferrably with a QWERTY keyboard.
I have used a Sammy i760, BB Storm, BB Storm 2 and a Moto Droid. Of the group I must say I like the feel and features of the Storm 2 the best! However, the Droid is much faster and the current Android OS runs circles around RIM's offerings. Until the 6.0 OS for BB's comes out I will probably use the Droid on 1200TNT. First month so can't tell you how it will go regarding data usage. Just have to wait and see I guess...
Used to use Blackberry 8703e. Switched to an HTC Ozone just yesterday.
HTC Ozone is okay, but its kinda bad too. The Blackberry was very basic and offered no surprises at all, which I was used to. Windows Mobile isn't my favorite OS, its just so clunky and stupid (hey thanks for giving me a notification everytime I send a text that it was sent).
There is a lot more software for it which is a plus , but theres so so many weird glitches with the phone and so little things that feel right that it feels like I'm using XP without any hacks (bad experience). The keyboard is a little more than odd, especially the second from the top row, and I really don't see myself using the software the way I used it on the blackberry (which was intuitive and very simple). It feels exactly like windows with even more problems, and the entire system is dumbed down (Its really hard to move items out of the Start Menu, and I still don't know how to to rearrange them). Texting feels stupid, and the words take a while to come on the screen, even when I don't have anything else opened, oddly enough the FN key stopped working for texting and it still worked for word. Typical Microsoft move! It makes perfect sense why 6.5 is so unpopular.
But its so light, it got wifi, an MicroSD slot, a really pretty screen and WOW oh wow the software repository is huge. Its mostly miss though but the few hit are great. As a phone the call quality is excellent, and the I have had no problems. If this is your first smartphone, its going to be a wonderful pick as long as you don't OCD about having everything the way you want it to be, and instead have an 'ehh good enough' mentality. I might have gotten spoiled by the Blackberry experience, where everything was predictable and controlled in a pleasant manner, but as long as you don't mind quirks you'll be fine. Its a rich learning experience, and feels a lot less locked down than Blackberry.
Do I regret my purchase though? Absolutely not! I think I will OCD over it for a while and in about a month I will have a better experience once I figure out how to use it. 7/10 for now it feels like I bought a 2000 Ford that has a rusted slightly drippy fuel line and the power occasionally works if I yell or hit it hard enough. Time to get out the toolbox!
While the Rival setup with no problems at all (It was a VZW Hand me Down).
The LG Banter will not do MMS or Internet no matter what i do. I am getting a HTZ Ozone next week, and will Ebay or Craigslist the other 2 phones.
Can't wait to get my hands on that Ozone. The one i am getting is through a friend, has already been activated on PP, and he has it flashed to the WM 6.5 3VO from XDA. I have already held it and played with it. Not as fast as a Droid, but its pretty darn close. The only thing i really do not like about WM 6.5 is a lot of the cooler older WM stuff is not compatible with the Widget crap that MS decided to put on.

That's the clincher.
You moved from a Blackberry, probably one of the best phones there is on the market, to an Ozone, which is somewhat outdated, but overall, is great for P+.
I also just switched to an Ozone, and 6.1 does seem slow, especially with texting. I'm thinking of upgrading to 6.5, and possibly even cooked ROMs, which offer a ton more programs, features, and overall awesomeness.
And there is a way to disable the 'Message sent' notification that pops up after you send a text message. I forgot the thread, but a search for 'HTC Ozone' in these P+ forums will produce that thread.
I am using the Env3 (Blue). I had to do a HEX edit that would allow me to change the Data and WAP settings.
Overall I am happy with the Text, Talk and 50 mb of Data I pay $29.99 a month for.
However, I recently found myself on the road in the middle of the night trying to find my way to a friends house. They where doing construction on the freeway so I missed my turn and traveled 15 miles out of my way. I never had missed VZNavigator as much as I did that night ranting and raving like a mad man for not sticking with Verizon.
Since my phone does not have BREW and I cant get a navigation application on it I have decided to switch back to Verizon since they are now offering monthly prepays.
I'll never get lost in the darkness of night on a deserted highway again with VZW! :0
