Just got my Driod Eris and activated it with no problem!!! Neat little phone. Set it to Wi-fi only, that way I don't use all my data(which I am out of until June 1st anyways).

I just won a LG Vortex VS660 Vortex phone on eBay. However, I just noticed that it said it was pre-paid. Will this not work with Page Plus. According to one of the WiKi FAQ pages, pre-paid phones from Verizon will not work, but yet this model number is not listed on "banned" list. Does anyone know for sure?

Oh wow. I think all VZW prepaid phones are banned. You might want to email the seller and explain this to him/her.

It's a smartphone. Chances are he bought it on VZW's website to activate on the monthly plans. AFAIK, the prepackaged phones that come from big box stores like Walmart and best buy (LG accolade, Samsung gusto, etc) are the ones that can't be activated on PP.

I read somewhere that the VZW's prepaid phones are programed by VZW for their specific market and are locked into that programming. Has to do with the authentication key they program into the eprom. There is a way around it but it involves a factory reset. There are also some models that are on the prepaid list that were not used as prepaids and will probably work on PP just fine. I have a vx6100 that was a contract phone that will work on PP, but wanted a smartphone so didn't go that route.

    Phone suggestions?

Hubby currently has a pink motorola flip phone (with a black case). Thought I would upgrade him for father's day! He doesn't use any data. Looking for the best phone for calls, texts, pics. I was considering one of the LG ENV's? Any other ideas?

Sounds like you can stick with the selection directly from Page Plus. The EnV was the phone my wife used for years from VZW and loved it. She says it had good voice quality and it has an excellent keyboard. Camera isn't bad at all for a feature phone.

I believe it has stereo speakers as well.

I think it was the original model. The 2 and 3 don't look that much different but would likely if anything be better.

Thanks! I'm leaning towards the 2 as I think it's easier to accidentally use data on the 3.

Wouldn't mind getting some sort of Droid but I would want a fairly late OS and not one of the really stripped-down models like the Citrus. I really don't know which one might be best and preferably <$200.

Would also feel a bit safer buying one from a reseller.

I had about made up my mind to buy an Imagio since WM seems to give little trouble on PP by all accounts but I'm told the App Store is closing down July 15. Then again, that might not be such a big deal to me since I just need the basic stuff.

With a little hunting you could get a Droid2 for under $200, there's an update for the latest Android 2.3 already available. Personally I didn't like the slider keyboard on the Droid2.
