I've been reading and researching for months now to see what phone, company and plan would be best for me and I finally figured it out. I bought a Moto Droid 2 on Amazon for 117.00,says new, will see. I'm going with PP for the 29.99 plan. This is my first smartphone and I can't wait to get it and figure it all out.

Anyway, all you have to do is search Google or here on HoFo and you'll find instructions on how to modify the programming on that phone so you can change the settings. It is a good phone, for what it is, a simple feature phone. I know a lady who still uses one, and she still likes it.
Well I am sorry to bust your bubble but I was told that I could buy a new phone from a PPCMD and was told this by a PPC csr if you do not believe this too bad, but I mention it only as a caution for those who may do the proper research, which I admit I did not do that was sort of implied by me in my earlier post. As for those who found this site before buying a phone...well they may or may not want to use my caution, it is too late for me....I did not find this site until after I bought my phone and I came here to find the steps required to "adjust" my phone as you have suggested I might. I have determined that the steps I found here to be good candidates for the adjustments......I am however not knowledgeable enough to use them. I happen to be one of the Dummies in one of the aforementioned articles, sorry if my statements or presence here offends you.

Ok. There is no way a PPC CSR SHOULD have told you that. They should not have, because they really have no way to know what a dealer is selling.

I have been in touch with the PPC tier 1 rep and due to my phone (LG 9900 ENv 1 not working it only recognizes verizon sites and does not allow the PPC gateway) I am to receive a new phone. I was told additionally that the internet that I am able to see (use) will be limited. I should be able to MMS and hopefully read my email.....although this was categorically cautioned by the same rep as he said not all sites are available. I was reminded that I am only paying 29.95 per month and that this was "cheap" so I will see what transpires after I am sent the new phone a Kyrocera (?) Torino . It may have taken some trying and time to get to the point I am with PPC, but I seem to be moving in the right direction.

I'm using an HTC Droid Incredible 2 on the $80/yr standard plan and like it so far. It's my first Android device, my first GPS, and my first phone on Page Plus. It's also technically my first smartphone, but I've had a 4th gen iPod touch since October 2010.

I'm using an LGvx 9900 enV1 which I purchased from a PPD. It is hard wired for Verizons network so I am able to only use portions of it's features with the Page Plus network. The features such as email, web, and a few others I am not able to use. I had PP send me a replacement, The "torino" and found it was a cheap plastic, really crappy little phone so I sent it back. It was my choice to use a well built outmoded older phone than use the new little cheapie. I also found that on the tiny little screen on the torino that the only web portal I could initially access was an MSN home page. When I contacted the PPCS agent to find out about to use the email and web surfing features of the torino, I was very disappointed. I found that this particular agent had not a clue and was not able to answer ANY useful questions from me about one of their featured phones. In earlier posts I outed myself as an incapable jailbreaker, so I cannot hack my phone to get away from the verizon features to the PP features. I now know that I am getting very reasonable rates for voice/text and possibly MMS from Page Plus. It still takes at least one half hour most of the time to reach a customer service agent (I have reached one in only ten minutes once) and there is no guarantee that when you reach an agent that he/she will have the info you are seeking. So as in life in general.......dealing with Page Plus, do not get your hopes up too high and do a better job of researching phones before choosing one. I did not and learned the hard way. Those of you still looking for a phone good luck, I WOULD NOT BUY ONE FROM PP.

Thank you for the tip. Joined, read, decided on a Motorola Droid 2, ordered from a fleabay seller as you described. 1/2 hour. Looking forward to having a phone smarter than I am. Which is not hard.

Wondering how the Droid 2 is working out.
Would I just buy the Droid 2 used from Ebay or cowboom, then it's just a simple port over my existing verizon cell# over, activate with PagePlus?

My other used phone candidates I am considering... Droid X and HTC incredible (though hearing about it's poor battery life might take it out of the equation).

I'm looking at using a LG VX8360 or a Motorola W766 on Page Plus. Has anyone had any luck getting the web browser working for Page Plus on either of these? How about data?

I keep experimenting with phones on my PP. I recently even put the Thunderbolt on there (no it did not work 4g, just normal ) But I always come back to my Incredible 2. It is thin, light, and super easy to use, and I LOVE the voice to text microphone, and the intuitive name lookup in phone section. I have 500 names and numbers, it makes it effortless to find someone. just type a few letters of their name and you see results. The only drawback is the "use of available signal". If there is wimpy signal, you are screwed. forget what the bars say, you can't use it. I am going to experiment with enhancing the back cover antenna with foil strips or thin wire to make it possibly better. if the back cover is off you get no signal. upon putting the back cover on you get signal, because two foil strips come into contact with two pins on the circuit board. I'm on the project of lengthening them. film at 11.
anyway droid incredible 1 was good, but the incredible 2 is INCREDIBLE. the Thunderbolt was the same everything but bigger screen. trouble with the Tbolt is that A: it hates page plus and you have to pay Beigephone to flash it for you ($40), and the phone is hefty, heavy and my arm got tired holding the car battery around. (that's what it felt like after a long phone call anyway)

Just bought a motorola droid 2 from ebay for $69.00. In excellent condition. Coming from a palm pre plus. Before the pre plus I had a sammy fassy. Loved it but never could get it to update to gingerbread.

I liked the pre, but I missed my android apps as everyone knows that WebOS lack apps.

I have a Droid 1 and my Data was working fine but ever since I ran out of data and went about 10 days with no data I can no longer get a 3G signal - I have called them 5 different times and done just about everything I can think of to try to get it working (ie: switched esn's, had them reset the features, moved it to a "supported phone" and then back again, restored the settings to factory, pulled the battery and "drained" the excess power, left the battery out for 25 min and then rebooted, manually programmed the phone, and even talked to a tier 1 support person) with no luck. In one of my phone calls I was told that my # was failing authentication and to move it to an approved device and call back - but when I did that I was told that the version support people that the Page Plus rep's talk to would see the multiple ESN change's and not help - so now where do I go???
