garya505, unfortunately, many eBay sellers often state that these old phone models are new. Unless it comes in the manufacturer's original packaging, I would doubt that it is really new, but I can't be sure of that.
The used $15 ones I mentioned earlier have a 7 day return policy. I am trying to resist buying one just for a backup. But I have other backups available, so I guess I'll pass.

If I knew where I could get a W385 that was a left-over Verizon out-of-warranty replacement phone I would go for that. I had gotten these ("white box" units) previously on other models and they were always good quality.
BTW, I queried some of the sellers and some were up-front when asked. The phones they are selling are probably all PagePlus refurbs, or maybe VZW white-box rejects.

You might be able to use it anyway. The best you can do is call PagePlus, give them the ESN/MEID, and ask them if it can be used on PagePlus.
EDIT:
I see that you have stated at http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...5#post14322445 that PagePlus did an ESN check and told you that it is fine to be activated. Hopefully, this is is the correct answer to your question...
Has anyone gotten any of the Lg Optimus line to work with PP? Or Verizon's version called the Lg Vortex. I really like these phones. Currently use the Env Touch, everything works!
I've about decided to go Page Plus and primarily need voice and text but if it has 100 mb data, why not use it? Here's the part that confuses me. I read the thread about modding a Droid, which was very good, BTW. I'm cheap and have an outdoor job so I'm rough on phones so I had considered a Devour, especially because I would prefer a hardware keyboard. The author mentions data leaks on older Android OS's so I think I might be better off with a Citrus, which I'm not crazy about because it has the onscreen keyboard and a small screen at that. I'm pretty familiar with WM, mostly 5 but older or newer is also OK. Assuming I add Opera Mini, wouldn't I be just about as well off (WM over Android) without having to load stuff to keep an Android phone from sucking up the data allowance? If so, would a Treo Pro or a Moto Q9m be preferable?
Just activated a Droid X no probs. Rooted on leaked Gingerbread and loving it! Thanks to the folks who mentioned Droidwall and 3G watchdog, I block everything but weather, messaging for MMS, and sportstap and get along just fine with my 100MB. No data leaks to speak of.
On a side note, I noticed some PP dealers offering phones like Droid Eris now.
Startac 7868w. was a verizon phone from brand new. I activated the day after I unboxed a Droid X. Still works fine battery still lasts. It's 12 years old.
Just got a pixi plus here. Activation was no problem but the phone itself was a bit of a challenge. Silly thing came with test firm ware and I had to flash it. Activating was touchy as we have very marginal signal here. Then of course it had to have a Palm profile before we could even see what it can do.
Turns out to be pretty sweet. Non-locked Linux (unlike Android) with hundreds of apps available. Seems to suck more data than I really want to pay for but it also can just pretty much live in airplane mode on wifi. Poor man's iPhone. I even loaded Bubble Wrap app.
