Ported line into Rogers, now want to port out

Is there any limitation or "got'chas" if a number was ported into Rogers for a month to month plan, but a request for port out happens within 30 days?

The phone joined Rogers on a month to month and there was no hardware added (SIM + unlocked phone).

In general does LNP rules have any time requirements when a number is ported before it can be re-ported to another service provider?

No, there's no rule. The only thing you have to consider is the fact that if you're going back to the carrier you had before, they may not treat you as a new activation. And your Rogers bill will be prorated a lot. :P

Sometimes it takes 1-2 days before you can port out... I had someone who
ported out to Telus and wanted back, but the number was still with Rogers.
I had to wait a few days before it registered with Telus to port it back in ...
also by porting it back you will still be charged activation and one month :/

Not really an issue with the activation and 1 month charge. That was expected. I was just wondering if Rogers won't release the number.

So it doesn't sound like it's going to be a problem.

    DH,
I had my own number jump between Rogers to Telus to Fido and back to Rogers in one day (don't ask!!).

SMS was messed for about 3 days, but the number was fine!

The line is going into a voip service, so it'll probably take a few days to port. I didn't know you could port back and forth within a day. That's good to know.

So my line finished the port yesterday without any problems.

Weird thing is I started getting calls from 416-645-2105 today; answered but no response on the other end. After googling it looks like it's a Rogers promo/customer service/overdue bill number. And the no answer thing seems common.

Just wanted to update this post for otehr sin the same situation.

I finally got my bill for this period. I had to pay for 1 month, and they had a $35 activation charge and cancellation charge on it. I called in, and immediately got both the activation and ECF fee credited back without any fuss.

My account only showed 7 minutes of usage.
