Picked up an enV Touch tonight. (software version)

I've been using the same "classic" enV (vx9900) since the first week it came out and I've loved it. Though I figured ~3 years was enough to leave the phone on duty and decided to pick up a very nice used enV Touch from a woman who switched carriers. The phone is 30 days old and not bad .

So I went to Verizon to transfer over my contacts, but NOT activate it yet. I want to play around with it first and get used to the menus and touch screen coming from my enV1.

I also asked the rep to check for a software/firmware update since I know the phone is at least a month old, but he told me I was up to date. However I looked on the forums here tonight and someone mentioned v04 .

So do I have the newest hardware/software? If not, what has changed from my version (release notes)? What is the newest?

Plus if I am in fact outdated, I guess I'll have to find another rep or vzw store to upgrade my phone which is supposedly "up to date" .

The most recent is VX11KV04. Mine came with 04 installed. I got it mid July. That rep str8 up lied or maybe since you didn't want to activate it he didn't want to update? I dunno. But yeah, go to another corp store and get it updated.

As I recall with newer phones like the enV Touch you can update the firmware yourself usually, either via an option on the phone for that or by downloading it on a computer and installing it on the phone that way.

So it looks like v04 was current as of a month ago. However it may have been pulled from LG for some reason .

I think there's a discussion of it as well in the VZW LG Voyager and enV Touch sub-forum here at HoFo that can probably be of some help.

I just checked. The enV Touch isn't one of the supported phones anymore. Who knows why.

Update: I too have no clue why it's no longer listed , but I did swing over to another VZW store and got the firmware up to V04 .

Note: It's only been on the phone for about 20 minutes now so I haven't had any time to play around with it and see what's new. If all goes well, I'll be activitating it as soon as I transfer my ringtones .

It is capable but he would have had to activate the phone first before he could update it.

Well then I would say check the env touch forum to see if there is another way for you to update it yourself or just swing by a vzw corp store and have then take care of it. The Dare, my last phone, had over the air updates but it never worked either.

My Touch came with 04 already on it so I don't know. Some people say the touch screen is more responsive but I think people are just fishing to notice whatever they can to say "something changed."
