From experience, the satellite view is only available for major metro areas.
honestly though, if you're using it for navigation while driving, there's really no point in the satellite view since you're mainly relying on the voice prompts, and you can still see all the streets and landmarks such as stores, gas stations, restaurants, etc on the screen.

Amaze is forcing everyone to upgrade to 5.0 which is obviously not free, by Jan 1. Since I'm going to have to pay I'm guessing there's something better than Amaze? I liked Amaze for the turn-by-turn navigation. I'm using an unbranded Z750. Thanks in advance.
Wayfinder is now also being discontinued which really sux, as it was the next best GPS app for the price..
I tried Amaze 5.0 again (they gave me a free 1yr subscription), but its just awful..
The maps are not accurate, and it routes me thru gated communities all the time.
The only other option left is Wisepilot, and that is $99 for a 1 year subscription
man, that Google Navigation looks amazing! but it will be a long time if we even see a java version of that.
If that ever goes to the other phone platforms, all of these other companies are dead, as the google app is ten times better, and is FREE on top of that!
Telemap is also not for USA, so I cannot run that one either. AT&T bought that up, and sells it in their Media Mall as Mapquest Navigator which cannot be run on a debranded phone.
So, its either Wayfinder, which can still be purchased, but the company said they are no longer developing new versions.
or Wisepilot.
Both are more geared towards European users, and not USA, which is where i am located.

Honestly I don't think Google is going to take all of that functionality into a J2ME version; there's no motivation to. technical limitations aside, they can now tout the power of Android-based devices (which is a completely legit point) and give people motivation to go for Android and thereby increase it's market share vs. iPhone, Blackberry, Symbian, etc.
Telmap Navigator works in the U.S.. at least when I signed up way back as a beta tester it was working fine.
