I want to swap my current 15$ VP [smartphone one] for the 10$ VP [iirc its the same?]
I have a couple of credits on my acct. on 5$ and one 10$ valid until 2011...
However, can the rep remove one of these for me? If i get rid of my old 15$ VP and swap for the new [10$]. So can the rep remove the 5$ one for me, if i ask him/her to do so?

As well i have a sweet plan, can you tell me if there is something already 'built' together? I do not like the idea of credits, i want a plan that will be 'premade' and not have to mess around with credits, since that is the only thing right now that makes my plan 'good'... I want the same of similar without the whole credits thing...

See what you doing is VERY smart because once the credits expire you dont have to call back and Moan and complain and you can live without credits

So I called FIDO again (3rd attempt in 2 months) and was talking to the rep. I repeated the same old true story: I've been with fido since 2003, technically since 2001 but the 1st two years on a different account, never called in for credits, never called in to complain except for 3 times when FIDO screwed up my bill, been paying on time, $30 plan but end up paying $70 a month, and I've called FIDO twice to see if I can get a better plan and both times I was given the following:

200 DTM
Unlimited Evening and Weekends
I also told her that the last time i called and wasn't offered anything good I decided I'll stick with what i have until i talked to my "friend" (that was partly a lie, as my friend is HOFO members) who has been getting something called the standard $25 retention plan that includes 200 DTM/ UEW/ F2f / 2500 txt/CD/VM and for a $15 credit, unlimited incoming and E/W starting @ 5pm.
So what I was offered was the same thing as before. So I asked if there is something called a retention department and if i can be transferred to it, but she said that's only for cancellations. I had indicated that I would maybe want to cancel my account if I don't get anything good so I told her yes, I want to cancel (and at this point i was scared since CRs can now cancel on their own) and she made some notes and transferred me to retention.
Now I'm on the phone with a very nice and polite rep named Agnes. I told her the story again, and she said she can offer me the $25 plan but she can only include F2F local for free and not the E/W @ 5pm. So when I asked her if she can include one more thing for free, like F2F Canada or F2F2R, she said no those conflict with my plan and I have to pay for them.
So I just went for

As for not being satisfied with your credits (or lack thereof), you probably called in too much (3rd attempt in 2 months!?!). Every time you call, the rep leaves notes. If you had read about the retention plans and called to "cancel" on your first attempt, you would probably have gotten at least a $10 options credit. But it all depends on whether you've called for deals in the past too.

Yes, I've called 3 times in the past 2 months. The 1st time i was actually offered the standard $25 retention plan. I didn't get E/W at 5pm so I decided to hang up. I don't think they made a note of that because the next time i called them they didn't even bring up that plan. I didn't say I want to cancel because of the changes that had just happened at FIDO. So I spoke with a regular CRS and he just offered me a crappy $25 loyalty plan + 11 "value" added package for i think 120 text messages, call display and VM. So I hung up. And this was the 3rd time. This time i crossed my finger, mentioned the word "cancel" and was transferred to retention.
No, I don't think I've called too much, considering that these were my only 3 times in the past 8 years.

Rule of thumb is breakeven for carriers is 8$/month. Anything in excess of 8$ is profit.
8$ includes what it costs to run the business, CSRs, network, etc.
On top of that, you have to add the cost of subsidizing the handset itself. That's case-by-case and actually most of it is already covered by marketing budgets, already integrated to the 8$/month breakeven mark.
So, yeah, the myth that companies loose money with those great retention plans and such... well they would already all be out of business if it was the case.

$7.50 SAF and 911
Proposed Loyalty plan:
$45 City Fido
$10 VP (losing picture text and who called)
No SAF or 911
And a free phone
2 year contract
Total savings would be $17.50 a month Total plan cost would be $55 a month

Thanks for the quick response... Why would anyone cancel me, I wasn't leaving they just called me out of the blue and offered this to me. I didn't ask for anything or what not.
They offered me the choice between no phone and $50 dollars in credit. But I asked for no SAF and they said they could do that however, I would not get the $50 dollars credit and I would get a free phone instead. They said they could not give me the $50 dollars and no SAF option so I might as well just get the phone.
You didn't confuse total savings with total plan costs. I edited my above post to make it clearer
