With the new retentions/loyalty rules you'll probably have to make a convincing threat/argument to cancel before they'll give it to you. I just happen to work for the IT branch within the mothership of one of the big telco competitors, ergo the corporate plan I quoted above is very real.

I called in, said I wanted to cancel and was transferred to retentions. The retention rep asked me why I wanted to cancel and I spelled it out. The corporate plan that was available via work was a good $20 cheaper than what I was paying, which would leave me ahead even after paying the $400 ECF.

    ul incoming

    Hey Guys,
This is for my GF and her bro who are on one account....not too familiar with the Fido side of things, so hopefully you guys can help me out here. (They want me to call in for them, cause there not good at these types of things, or call in together). There bills right now are between $110-$125 since August, previous to that they were paying $200+ each month for about a two years. I negotioted there current plans for them it was the best I could get with out renewing. Do Fido Reps look at past spending to determine how much in credits they are willing to give out to certain customers?

My gf's line is still on contract for another year, Feb 2010, her bro's is now out of contract as of January 2009.

For him I want to get the $25 retention plan (200 DT, unlimited after 7, texts, CID, VM correct?), plus add a long distance option, he's a student and needs it.
I think he has 100 right now for $5, is there other options I can ask for? 1000 for $10 with a $5 credit of some sort?

If I can get that for $30-35 he would sign back up for a 2 or 3 year term. On top of that he needs a new phone, his outside screen cracked a few weeks ago and needs something. Wants an Iphone, with no Data, 249 or 349 with the plan option above correct? Does retention deal on new phones for current clients, at minimun can I get the $35 fee waived? He mainly wants the iphone to converge a few of his devices (ipod/phone and old school paper calendar).

For my GF she does not want to get to sign a new deal, she started a new job and they will pay for a company BB and home internet after 6 months (so 5 months from now). Her bills are about $60 a month with taxes, and she is on retention plan...will they give her any credits even though she won't renew like they did before or is that done?

    Thanks for any help/info guys.

that's a really good deal. Is your $10 monthly credit to the end of your contract? or is it just for 6 months?

If your GF's bro is on one of the non-garden plans, then he should be able to get the $25 retention plan. Depending on his history, they should be able to offer some sort of credit for the $10 1000LD option ($5 should be easy, you may have to push if you want the full $10 credited). As for the iPhone, I'm not familiar with Fido's policies with this so I can't help you there, but I seem to remember that you must take 3 yr agreement to get the iPhone.

As for your GF, with less than 1 yr remaining on her agreement, I wouldn't expect any deals without re-upping her agreement. But there's no harm in trying.
    Line 1: $25 Retention Plan
    200 Daytime Minutes
    Unlimited Fido 2 Fido Minutes & Evenings & Weekends @ 7pm
    VM/CID/2500 SMS
Monthly Credit (Voice Plan) - ($10.00)
    Add-Ons
    Unlimited Incoming Calls - $10.00
Monthly Credit (Unl. Incoming) - ($10.00)
    6GB Blackberry Data - $30.00
    ----------------------------------------------
    Total: $45 + tax.

    Line 2: Data Only Line
    ZDATA (no Voice/SMS capabilities)
    Unlimited Data (GPUNL) - $50.00
    Monthly Credit - ($10.00)
    SAF - $6.95

    nope :\

    I REALLY wanted to cancel.

I tried to call and cancel again today, but now they gave me an extra 10 dollar discount for one year
another 10 dollar discount for 6 months.

and 6 months calling for all three lines.

the deal is just too good to cancel. if i cancel, i would be paying more for 2 lines, so im getting now a price of two lines for three lines

    Current Plan
    $50 - T-Bay Unlimited Nationwide Minutes
    6GB
    Call Display/VM/Text

I actually meant for when she is not in her local area...she Lives downtown Toronto, but spends 5-7 days a month in St. Catharines ON...she tries not to use her phone too often there but she does sometimes and it adds up quick. Is there any minutes she can buy for that type of roaming?

Guys, what do you think of my retention deal?

    - 250 day mins
    - Unlimited Incoming
    - Unlimited Fido 2 Fido
    - Caller-ID+ Name Display
    - Enhanced Voice Mail
    - 2500 outgoing SMS
    - System and 911 fees included
    Price is 25$+tx = 28.22$ (in Quebec)

Additional option: 5$ for 1000 Canadian LD mins

I think I'll take it, but I'd love your input.

Edit: Forgot to add that it's on a 2yr term which gives me 250 day mins instead of 200 and 6 month unlimited local calling.
