    +/- Call Display /w Credit
    $30 - 6GB
    SAF + 911

Contract ends March 2010. Think my credits will be gone? I'm not sure about signing another contract yet, since I'm waiting for Telus/Bell for the HSPA Palm Pre Plus (if it ever comes, )

And I'm actually happy with my current plan, if only they can knock off the SAF and 911 and replace it with an SMS package, I don't mind paying for that, as long as I keep my total bill under $60 with taxes. Any luck on that?
And actually I checked my bill, clearly states credits are gone as of Feb 28.

So I'm either switching to Bell for the Pre, or waiting out till May and unlock one for use on Fido. I found some takeover plans that costs around the same as mine, but data cut down to 500MB (though I did see one for 2GB) and I lose bill by second. But I get lots of minutes and text to cover for that. Another thing I'm potentially losing is tethering.

Completely not interested in any phone Fido is selling right now, unless I can get one that will sell quick and cash out my FidoDollars. In fact I'm debating whether to switch to a garden plan since I'm quite unlikely to buy a phone from Fido anymore, but I don't want to pay $2 for a paper bill.

I have been a FIDO customer since July 2009. I have the $20 voice plan and the $15 BB messaging-only plan.

I would like to ditch the Blackberry and go to a regular smartphone, but I would love to get the $15 / 150MB "retentions" data plan on perhaps a 1-yr contract.

Would I have a better chance of getting the $15 / 150MB plan if I went to the normal $25 / 500MB plan for a month or two first? (i.e., then try to "downgrade" through retentions)

    Hello,

    I have the following plan,

    Country fido $70
    Unlimited internet $50
    Value pack 15
Name display forgot how much they are charging me for this but my total bill comes to 145 a month. I am in Calgary, with the launch of the new Wind mobile I am looking at reducing my bill. I also have another cell phone from work which includes unlimited and also have a data stick from work which is unlimited.

Do you think Fido will offer me anything special if I call in, I need to reduce my bill, I am not under any contract. I am barely using any minutes or data monthly. I will be happy to pay 100 dollars a month to keep this plan but not a penny more.

I talked with Fido and this is where it stands

    45 city fido (original)
    no access fee
    911 fee
15 smart phone pack, 2500 texts, id voicemail and 1000 multimedia messages
15 for 150 mb retention offer

I asked for an iphone and they said I would have to start paying the access fee? Is this true, it doesnt make sense especially if I use it to purchase a 50$ phone, thats 6.95X36months=166$ on a 50$ phone.

I heard this statement before posted on here "
When you call them don't let them talk you out of city fido, once its gone you will never get it back also you will never ever be eligble for a contract phone discount if you switch to one of the current plans". What is a contract phone discount?

Well...not really easy obviously! You can change from your current price plan to a Basic one and don't pay for the S.A.F anymore, this will cost you 35,00$ (Setup Fee). To Avoid the 2.00$ Paper bill, simply register your Fido account to the Online Billing.

There's a 20,00$ Retention Price Plan available without S.A.F/911 and you'll have access the Fido/Rogers Extended Network. It's 100 Min. Weekdays. Evening+W-E unlimited @ 7PM. If you can convince retention of getting it that will be a Plus.

Plus, no Fido agreement= No monthly credit like you had in the past. So that will be up to you.

Finally, I suggest you to keep your Fidodollars in case of emergency like broken phone or Lost/Stolen device.

    Good Luck!

I don't beleive in this statement...

As for the the Fido agreement renewal, it's pretty simply, Fido will give you a discount...

You have the choice between a monthly credit on the System Access Fee (6,95$/Month) during a 24 Months agreement (166,80$+ Taxes)

Or...Start paying the S.A.F and get a discount on a new Fido phone...In your case the credits for an Apple iPhone will be 300,00$ Fido agreement & another 200,00$ for the Data iPhone Credit, Total= 500,00$.

In both cases you can use your Fidodollars to purchase a new Fido phone. So at the end, either you keep your S.A.F Discount and pay more for the iPhone 3Gs and stay only on a 2 years Fido agreement. Or pay more for you monthly service and get a bigger discount on a new iPhone on a 3Y Fido agreement...

I have like 4 backup phones in my drawer. So I really don't think I'll ever need more backup phones.

I actually don't want to register for online billing, because I had issues with it. I used to be in Waterloo but bills go to Toronto, so I switched, and then subsequently switched back. Had several occasions I couldn't view my bill at all.

I guess I'll be in observance mode for now. Doesn't sound like I'll get much.

Ok makes sense I didnt know if not paying a system access fee and getting a discount on a phone at the same time was possible since I was able to before.

...one more question , when i talked to another customer service representative at one point they told me if I start paying the access fee it can never be taken off even after a 3 year contract expires, is this true or were they just assuming?

The exception in the Fido Business Rule is If you have more then one line in your account, you will be eligible for both discounts on Phone/S.A.F...but that's it!

For your final question, yes if you start paying the S.A.F, it will be for good. Unfortunately I can't predict the futur but things may change, who knows!

    What do you guys think?

    Hey,

    Just talked to Fido retentions...

Current plan approx. $35 (after $10 credit and before taxes):

    CityFido (unlimited talk anytime)
    No Caller ID
    No Voicemail
    No Text Messaging

They're offering for approx. $45 (before taxes):

    CityFido (unlimited talk anytime)
    Caller ID
    Voicemail
    2500 Text Messages

Do you guys think this is a good deal? Would it be possible to not lose my $10 credit and still get the Caller ID + Voicemail + 2500 Text Messages?

When was the last time you upgraded your phone (if ever)?

Regardless, seeing as you're approaching the 2 year mark of your existing contract you should be able to upgrade to the iphone as you would like - especially seeing as you don't have a smartphone at the moment (meaning you haven't used a smartphone HUP lately), as long as you're willing to add data then they shouldn't have a problem letting you upgrade now.

    Cool.

No I've never done a HUP. So I'm going to call in and see what I can get.

    Thanks.
