I currently have the old $25 unlimited plan:
    -100 minutes
-unlimited talk after 6 pm + weekends
    -unlimited nationwide texting
    + $7 caller ID.

Telus has a promo plan going on right now for $30:
    -200 minutes
-unlimited talk after 6 pm + weekends
-unlimited CAN + US sms and mms
    -caller ID and VM

My contract is going to end in about two months and I'd like to stay with Fido because of the per-second billing. Do you guys think Fido would match Telus' promo plan if I called in to renew my contract? I don't need VM though, so I'm wondering if they'll lighten up on the price...? This will be my first time inquiring and negotiating and I wanted thoughts and opinions on this before proceeding with it. Advice on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

I called in few days after to accept this offer, but was told that they dont offer 100 minutes anymore. It is out of their system. After I talked to them for a bit they offered 50 minutes for free, which I didnt like. In the end CS came back and offered me city fido unlimited and all the other things I had before
    Unlimited WW text messaging
    Unlimited Canadian MMS
    VM/CID
    500MB data
    $50 plus taxes

    So I took that.

    Thanks for the help

Just do what I did. Call in and tell them your contract is expiring and that you wanted to see what they could offer. Depending on the offer, tell them that you were hoping to get something closer to the telus plan, and most likely they will transfer you to the retentions dept. From there on, they will probably offer you something better, or more things for the same price.

It all depends on knowing what you want, what competition has and knowing when to stop pushing for more.

    Good luck.

Not Bad at all. What a huge difference you went from 100 day minutes to unlimited. That's one of the best offer I have seen lately from LnR

It wasnt just 100 minutes. What they originally were offering was 200 daytime +100 more. It is those +100 more they couldn't offer. So I was supposed to have 300 daytime, and then she offered unlimited.

I think it's a good deal and I am happy with it.

i've spoken to three different reps. so far
    1. said i couldn't renew anything until my credits expired. when they do, i would be able to renew all my existing credits then
    2. called back when credits expired, then was told that's no longer the case because "policy" changed and would only offer a $10 credit
    3. called back again and same thing, policy changed, can't renew those credits. asked to be transferred to retention and she replied back saying she was retention

should i keep on trying or take the latest plan offered to me? i don't really need all these extra features.. i was quite pleased with my plan before and the pricing.. but they won't renew it for me

Unfortunately for you, you wasting everybody's time.

You have the offer, you take a decision & you move on.

    time to renew or bail!

    have two months left.

don't want to pay more than my current $62/month, but was told i couldn't keep my all my existing credits (incl my 1000 Canadian LD) to make that work.

    they offered:
    200 minutes, per second
    5pm e/w
    ul CAD/US/INT'L texts
    ul incoming
    ul F2F, F2R LD
    6GB data
    call display/name display/voice mail

i lose the 1000 mins CAD LD that i had.

    $63

basically told this is as good as i'm gonna get.

    thoughts?
    I BRICKED MY GALAXY S2.

You'd be getting $17 of credits with that plan. I can't see you getting more than that.

thx for checking it out, BL.

i originally had $27 of credits when my LD was added in. but i guess Fido doesn't have that retention option anymore?

a bit miffed because i'm getting less than what my previous contract had for the same/slightly more amount. shouldn't plans/offers get at least a little bit better with time/loyalty, etc.?

Plans have gotten better, but don't expect to always get more and more discounts on things.

    i hear what you're saying.

was *hoping* for something better, but my expectation was that my contract details could at least be matched. didn't expect to be told i'd have to pay more for the exact same features/plan, or to lose a feature to fit a certain price point. that was very surprising.

the rep was nice and helpful, but even he seemed resigned, hinting it's a "take it or leave it" situation currently. past negotiations with Fido seemed to be more "flexible."

oh well. see what the next few weeks brings. if loyalty isn't worth much these days then que sera.

What are my chances of getting the $25 PQ plan and HUP using my Fido $$$ on a 2 yr plan.
    Thanks

My current 3yr contract is up in less than a month and I've been a subscriber for 10 years now. For my next 3 yr iPhone contract I would like:

$35 Unlimited local calling from within any CityFido zone, Unlimited International Text
    $30 6GB Data
$11 Value Pack (Call # + Name Display, Visual Voice Mail for iPhone, Who Called, Unlimited Picture + Video Messaging to Canadian #'s, 2,500 min Call Forwarding)
    -----
    $76+HST Total

    3 questions:

    1. What is the best price I could get this for under a new 3 yr contract? Currently I only pay $50+HST for the above but with the old grandfathered CityFido plan (but my VM Value Pack only has SMS, not MMS) because I've been getting $35 in credits a month. I realize this is no longer sustainable but wonder if I can get any credits at all on the above $76 plan.

    2. I currently have the old grandfathered CityFido plan which incorporates the old larger Toronto area local calling zone but does not allow local free calling in any other CityFido zone across Canada. Is there any reason to not switch from this old grandfathered plan to the new CityFido plan above if I never really even venture outside the smaller CityFido zone in Toronto but when I travel in Canada would like to have free local calling when in other CityFido zones in Canada? My current CityFido is, btw, $45/mos not the $35/mos above so if I kept it I'd be at $10 more or $86+HST pre any credit.

    3. I currently have a factory unlocked iPhone 4S I purchased from Apple at full retail. I would like to hardware upgrade with a full subsidy to the new iPhone when it comes out this fall (and then just sell it new-in-box to help pay for a factory unlocked version from Apple). I take it I should just go on month-to-month after my contract expires and then enter into a new 3-yr contract when the new iPhone is offered by Fido?

    Thanks!
