Open up a NON Sidekick prepaid plan. Geez? How hard is that? Unlimited text /data/im plus 15 cents a minute? Non Sidekick Version. Same dollar a day rate Just give the slower EDGE unlimited. I'd rather have unlimited moderate speed internet then limited faster internet. They don't even have Tmobile 3G where I am at anyway. Rocket scientists and brain surgeons in the house anyone? Geez.

Try to use either a L2TP-based VPN (like Hotspot Shield) and set it up with the VPN software on your phone (if you have any... WM should, iPhoneOS does, etc). This should work as long as you maintain an active data connection (so phone calls and SMS will probably disrupt the VPN connection, unfortunately).
I've done this and it works so far on my backup iPhone with SK plan. I think my Push Notifications' also keeping the VPN connection alive, so that might be a good thing if you're an iPhone user.

A Cisco/IPSec-based VPN might also work, but PPTP won't (others have confirmed this).

There's a couple other options like Tor that some are looking into as well in the MMI topic I've been reading up on.

Instead of me spending an extra $150/year or so now they'll get zero and I'll be looking for an alternative to T-Mobile. Yeah, it's a trivial amount of money but it's essentially free money. I left it on this past weekend needlessly for a couple of extra days so zero usage on their network. Kind of silly when they're satisfied with taking $150 over 6 years for PAYG ($100 initial and 5 years of paying $10/year to keep it going with light usage).

No. You can't tether a Sidekick. One of the reasons why I dropped SK and went to BB.

God, this sucks. I can't believe it doesn't work anymore. The data on my iPhone was actually quite fast and I really enjoyed using it. 1 dollar/day was a great deal.

I guess I should just sell my iPhone.

At this time, the only data option offered by TMO is the Sidekick plan which is no longer working on non-Sidekick devices.
Personal Phone: iPhone 4 on AT&T

No wonder cdma is kicking the tar out of gsm in prepaid. Cdma has unlimited everything for cheap and gsm can't even give us unlimited anything for cheap .

Don't forget Boost with iden is also doing the same, even if their data is slow.

Still debating whether I should port out of T-Mobile and move back to AT&T. After you set up the APN through wap.cingular you get no annoying messages from AT&T pestering you and threatening to kick you off.

I miss 3G too, but having to put $100 a year kind of blows.
    I like prepaid services...methinks.

I wouldn't only because I don't like AT&T's data pricing. There's no way it costs them anything remotely close to $20 to transfer 100mb of data [$0.20 per MB]. Getting a song from iTunes would cost more in bandwidth than the actual song.

I would, however, still leave T-Mobile. I closed my accounts and if enough people leave they should get the point. Going to AT&T doesn't prove anything to T-Mobile other than they can charge more than they did [say $20 for 200mb] and get away with it.

Yes. It hurts even more for laid off/unemployed bums like me. That's the beauty of PAYG, you don't have to worry about the cell phone bill every month if you lose your job.
