Apparently not because I have 8 emails accounts checking mail every 15 minutes, IM+ with push and stay connected. Occasionally, I use the ESPN scores app. I even tried to change checking mail to every hour. It runs through quick!
So I'm not sure if I'm exactly in the right place but I put my TMO sin in a unlocked data card and I get access to the walled garden no problem. I can use the Bypass URL so kindly provided by CaptSmokey to surf most websites. But I want to setup a proxy. I thought that if I setup a proxy on a well known port like 22 then I should be golden. Testing my setup w/o TMO and the web browser sends all requests over the SSH tunnel to the server who actually makes the request.
However when I connect to TMO I can't initialize the connection between my server and the proxy. Its just a standard SSH connection and it just sits there.. like its being filtered. I thought 22 was an open port that I can connect to whatever I want.
' I tried to give it a DNS name with 'tmobile' in case that mattered, still no dice. Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong? If responders feel its appropiate, PMs are welcome. Thank you
Thanks Vlad. I must be doing something else wrong then, I'm running ssh on port 80, connect to it just fine and can forward a local port that I can use as a SOCKS5 proxy. However, I can't connect to it when I am on TMobile. I then tried Squid for an HTTP Proxy, which I put on port 80, same results - works fine otherwise, but not through TMobile.
I got it to work. I followed the directions in the TMobile Data wiki here on howardforums. It lists the ports that you can use (and not port 80) to proxy. I'll leave it at that. Good luck.
