I have had it all of 5 hours. I come from an original Tmobile Dash. I wish I could say I LOVE the TP2, but I just can't. This device is bulky. Of course it is when you compare it to the dash, but for me, it is just too bulky. I do not feel very comfortable with it in my pocket. It is heavy. Probably twice as heavy as my Dash.
The slide out keyboard is just a nuisance for me. Of course, I was afraid that would happen after also test driving the G1 when it was first released. I like a real keyboard, but typing on this thing just seems clunky and out of balance. You would think that a big device would at least feel good when you were messaging on it, but no such luck for me. I wouldn't even think about one handing to type on this device.
There are some cool things about the touchflow stuff. It seems to make doing things easier, like setting up email or connecting a bt device. Underneath the sheets we have WM 6.1, but the Touchflow 3d cover makes it feel more smooth.
With that said, touch in general can be a real pain. I find the screen very imperfect at times and it can be VERY frustrating.
The screen itself is beautiful. Youtube videos are like a little Tv. 3g was impressive for me. I was able to setup corporate email with no problem. I did bluetooth to my headphones with no problem except it said it couldn't turn up the volume from the device.
Anyway, that's it. I am not a hater, its just not for me. Hope this helps someone.
The HTC Touch Pro 2, is the latest, and best P/PC/cell phone. Better P/PC/cell phones are sure to follow.
If one wants to compair and complain about HTCTP2, then it should be about other P/PC or P/PC cell phones. Not smart phones, not iphones, and not regular cell phones.
It is pointless to compair apples to oranges.... or P/PC/cell to non P/PC/cell!
Everyone has most of thier facts right. However, there are options that only a P/PC/cell are designed to do, which a non P/PC/cell, iphone and reg. cell cannot do!
I have been a fan of P/PC since they first came out, and moved on to P/PC/cell phones when they came out. Having owned several models and brands over the years.
Going back to non P/PC/cell ANYTHING...just did not work the same for mobile connection we are all looking for.
P/PC/cell phones are the top of the line, as far as "what it can do". Next step up would be UMPC, MID, Netbook, Notebook etc with LAN,WLAN,BT etc.
Always make sure it what you want before you buy it!
tried reading back and used the search function but couldn't easily find what I was looking for.
got my TP2 back in october and I think the ribbon cable for the slider is broke as my touch screen is intermitant. had my mda for 4 years so I didn't think to get the extended protection. really don't care the phone is worth it. problem is I want to make sure I get EVERYTHING in a back up so when I restore it to a new TP2 I'll have EVERYTHING. including programs that are partially installed on my mini sd which I know just pull it and put it in the new one. but I want changing TP2 to be seamless. just resync and boom I'm back where I was with a working toughscreen. after 8 month I got it like I want it. and don't want to lose my txt messages game results nor anything else.
first anybody else having ribbon issues? second what's the best backup that gets EVERYTHING including text messages.
