This thread is moving alot slower than I thought it would. Recently having left tmo, I still consider them to be like an old friend and I was thinking that the TP2 would have had a better response. HoFo is usually a pretty good gauge for how a device is perceived/received by the rest of the population.
Another anti-climax for tmo then? Seems funny they wouldn't have advertised the heck out of it since they were the first nam provider to get it, Especially with their brand new 3G network. I don't think alot of people even know it is available as they never seem to advertise devices unless they are geared toward a younger demographic. Just my $.02 and I'm looking forward to picking up one of these when my new provider offers it.

All of these people have actually moved over to XDA and are posting there about their Touch Pro 2 from T-Mobile.

TP2 lost out on quite a number of peeps who decided/elected to go with the Pharos device, for sure. However, I disagree that this phone is selling slower than expected. TMO is targetting the device to business pros and therefore sales staff are steering people in-store toward the MyTouch 3G instead. Only people who really know the advantages of a Windows Mobile device will ask for it when they come in and then they'll get the sell on TP2. TMO doesn't consider itself a business focused company and so they wouldn't try to push a TP2 on anybody. It's simply there for those that demand it on their current plans. This can be easily witnessed by their previous lack of a high-end WinMo device. I for one am extremely pleased that they didn't turn TP2 down as they very easily could have just left us stuck with the Dash 3G as the only option.

@cbreze: Its overpriced. Plus why bother releasing it if they wont even tell customers about it? Targeting business users? Which business users exactly? Really, how does T-Mo suffer from actually selling the TP2? That really is the most stupid thing a business could do, make it difficult for customers to spend their money on your product. Small thinking like this is what makes T-Mobile unattractive to handset manufacturers, lets see how many of the high-end WM devices from other handset makers we see on this network over the next few years.
TomTom will work but you have to know what you're doing. TomTom themselves are absolutely ZERO help as a consequence of them pulling support for PDAs due to rampant piracy.
I will not help people STEAL anyone's software, but if you have a LEGITIMATE copy that you BOUGHT (along with the maps you BOUGHT) and are REPLACING your device with this one I will say this: It can be used on the TouchPro2 and works perfectly, but it DOES take some effort.
Please let me know how to do this. I sent you a PM. I've been working on this all day long and I still can't get it to work right. I was able to register my maps with an older version of TT6 but it will only work in landscape mode and there are 3 screens of TomTom. If I try to go back to portrait, it will give me a memory sharing violation and close.
I got TT7 installed on the storage card as well. It looks and works beautifully but I can't get it to recognize my maps. It will only recognize the one free city map that it allowed me to download. So, I'm kinda stuck.
And TomTom's site doesn't even give you the option to buy a compatible map for TT7 if you phone didn't come with it.
Sorry for trashing the tread but I'm kinda desperate.
I answered your PM. TTV6 will NOT work. V7 for the VGA display WILL work but the CAB will NOT install - you have to manually unpack it and move the directory over to the device's root (under "Navigator") then run it once. It will then demand an authorization code for your maps to pair them with your device ID - if you have a legitimate copy and purchased maps, you have a code (if you used it previously you can contact TT and if they're feeling nice they can "reset" it in their computer so it will work a second time.)

Got your PM. Thanx. I got it working with TT7. I actually had to authorize the maps with TT6, but then TT7 worked with the maps as well after I updated the version, build, and ID# on the map file (found that tid bid on someons blog) so TT7 would recognize them. TT7 7.910 would not install, but I did get 7.450 to install. It screwed up my BT stack so I installed it to the storage card and then did a hard reset to get my BT back. Now it's all working fine - I just can't use corrections feature because my maps are not supported. I'll buy updated maps later on, now that I know TomTom will work.
The problem is T-Mobile is paying HTC so much money to brand the TP2, that they aren't even making the device known to people that it's out. Maybe in the Sept e-article from them, they will show it off. But, paying HTC so much to get the device out first, and to put your carrier logo on a $700 phone, but not get it out the door is crazy. I think the deal breaker is the $349 2 year price. If they would have said $299 with 2 year contract that would be fine.
I can't wait to see how much AT&T/Verizon/Sprint charge for their TP2, and see if T-Mobile has any regrets.
T-Mobile is banking too much money on people charging after the myTouch. Even the reps got confused about the myTouch and the Touch Pro2 naming conventions.
I'm curious how my new provider(sprint) will market the tp2.
I'll most likely pick it up at some point. It's a very hi-end device, although probably more for the business
user, which I am not. I just appreciate the flexibility of wm.
Well it came yesterday and so far I am impressed.... The interface is decent, no lag, tethering was a breeze, and unlike others I like that its heavier than most phones..... More as I use it more....

will get TP II next week when opening up family plan, pay $400 ($400+$35+tax) with 1 year
since I'll add same VPN as I currently have to new line, it'll be qualified
it's a special opportunity because a friend will join, and will give a red TM506 to him (unlocked, de-branded, mint condition)35
Has anyone had issues with the screen dimming after they put the screen protector on that came with the phone? There's supposed to be a proximity sensor somehere at the top of the phone that the turns off the display when you put the phone to your face or face it down. I saw a post last week where somone had to cut a hole where the sensor was to because the screen protector was blocking if from working. But now I can't find the post. Anyone have issues with this? I haven't put mine on yet.

it should be next to earpiece, because I don't see other hole on the top
