Has anyone successfully synchronized their Outlook contacts and calendar using LG PC Suite II with Vista? I used to be able to do this with my Shine phone but since I've upgraded to my Xenon which uses LG PC Suite II I haven't had any luck. I'm using the LG USBModem driver 4.8.1 and neither LG PC Suite II v4.G.3.92.090415 or Windows Media Player 11 will recognize my phone with the corresponding USB setting Data Service or Music Sync.
I have the same problem. I even tried running the sync EXE file compatible to XPSP2 but it does not connect too. On the main window of PC Suite II, it shows that my LG GR500 is connected but when you click on "contact", the phone icon on the right hand side shows "disconnected", after a few second it fails..
I know myself and others on another board have tried this. I tried several different modem drivers, with the phone in every possible setting, even tried via Bluetooth and using the LG Outlook Sync application.
Nothing.
And sending contacts via bluetooth to the phone from Outlook doesn't work either. You can send a vCard and have the phone read it, but the contact info get's all screwed up.
The only think I can think of, and what I will try as soon as my order from DealExtreme get's here this week, is using a SIM Card reader to read/write my contacts. I'll post anything I figure out doing that once I try.
Given all the effort that got put into this, I thought I'd post my solution (in case others try to do the same thing). Sorry for resurrecting an old topic, but as this post is one of the first hits on Google, I felt it would be appropriate.
I could never get the USB connection to work, though admittedly, I didn't try very hard. Even as a Mass Storage device, the Xenon never displayed in Windows Explorer.
First, make sure your PC is bluetooth capable. Buy a 10$ dongle if it isn't.
Turn on bluetooth on the phone, and make sure it is discoverable. Ensure that you are able to add a connection from the PC to the phone through Control Panel | Bluetooth Devices (for Windows XP)
You may need to reboot the computer. I did, just in case.
Start up PC Suite. When the wizard comes up, choose Bluetooth.
It will find your phone, and enter a passcode (a simple passcode seemed to work better than simply no passcode). Your phone will also ask for permission to connect, so say OK to any prompts, entering the same passcode when asked to do so.
Now, you should be connected, and able to browse contacts and calendars. The one caveat here is that the phone needs to be on the HOME SCREEN for those actions to work. Otherwise, you'll get some weird USB connectivity error from the PC Suite:
"Fail to connect to the mobile handset, Please check the COM port and connect in idle screen. Due to the multifunction, despite idle screen, it can be failed to connect."
