LG Rumor 2 (AKA Banter) Coming to Virgin Mobile USA

First, there were rumors via Crunch Gear:

Good news, pre-paid fans! You’ve got a new handset coming to your corner of the market. We can’t promise anything for sure, but we’ve got good reason to believe that Virgin Mobile will be getting the LG Rumor 2 sometime in the coming weeks.

Our source didn’t reveal whether the Rumor 2 would be on the pre-paid or post-paid (Helio) side of Virgin Mobile’s offerings - but as all of the current contracted options sport 3G capabilities and the Rumor 2 doesnt, we’re inclined to think it’ll be a pre-paid deal. This phone currently goes for anything between $80 bucks and nothin’ but a contract depending on which Sprint outlet you go through, so we wouldn’t expect it to break the bank on Virgin Mobile. We’ll update you if we hear more.
So I went ahead and e-mailed Virgin Mobile USA and got the following response:

To answer your question: The LG Rumor2 phone will be launched at Radio Shack on 08/28/2009 and it will be available on our website on 10/27/2009.

Very nice. So it looks like we're getting a new phone on VM. I just got the XTC. It should get here today. I'll play around with it...I'm apprehensive about the keyboard. If I don't like it, I'll send it back, and go to Radio Shack and check out the new phone. Just thought I'd share.

Don't be suprised if we start seeing other normal phones on sprint's lineup head over.... Like the Razr and other such phones.

    BTW, I think I'll pass.

I'd love a qwerty phone like the rumor... But this one isn't EVDO. I've been really happy with my Shuttle and I wouldn't like going from EV-DO back to normal phone speeds...

Hopefully, as someone else mentioned, we see one of Sprint's touchscreen phones head over... BUT with EV-DO. Oh and wifi.

I sure hope that is true! I have been wanting a decent qwerty phone! I'm gonna check out The Shack and see if this is true. If it is please somebody post when they see!

I'm gonna be going to Radio Shack on Friday. The XTC just came in the mail and I'm so-so about it. If I go to The Shack and it turns out the Rumor is fun to play with, I'll be getting it instead.

Does anyone know how easy it is to return to Virgin Mobile directly?

I didn't like the XTC cuz of the keyboard and the problems that I heard about on here. I'm sure they would let you return the phone I guess, check their help page is all I can say.
