Oh...hmm...is there a way to turn off 3G, gprs or any other stuff downloading data while using wifi so that I don't 'accidently' use data from my carrier?
Also, does C905 support external apps well? (i.e. java apps and games downloaded to the phone) cause my phone only supported about 1/10th of the apps and games available online.
Haha seems like my questions are neverending, I'll also try to look at the official c905 thread here.

When you debrand your phone; don't set any data profiles, just set MMS

Then you'll be fine... cause all phones that are debranded with generic firmware lose data profiles, and it has to be configured in order to have access to data again.

Also you can simply turn off 3g anytime so it won't drain your battery. Turn it back on for video calls on the c905a
    Arr~

If Wifi is connected, the phone will use it exclusively (it won't even try and connect using 3G, EDGE, or GPRS)

Java apps and games would work just fine, of course.

How does it work when connected to iPhoto? Does the geo tagging transfer over any differently with the AT&T firmware over the debranded one?
I love all my phones but what happens when they get too old to be 'cool' anymore?
Does my desk drawer become the retirement home?

As long as it plays well with iPhoto I'll be happy.

    Thanks!

The phone does indeed geotag the picture. I've never used iPhoto, but if it can read the geotags off of pictures that you import into it then I guess you'd be okay.

Only when using WiFi? That's already done for you; you don't need to do anything.

Turn off data altogether? Sure - you can delete all data accounts using Settings -> Connectivity -> Internet settings -> Connect Using -> (Profile) -> Options -> Delete - but then you will also not be able to send/receive MMS or IMs. Another option may be to call AT&T customer service and have them put a "data block" on our account. (This option does not seem to be available via the AT&T Account manager at http://wireless.att.com/).

Also, does C905 support external apps well? (i.e. java apps and games downloaded to the phone) cause my phone only supported about 1/10th of the apps and games available online.
Nearly all J2ME apps will work fine the C905a; however you will want a debranded phone in order to be able to use apps that were not specifically signed by AT&T. Otherwise you'll get constant permission prompts...

FWIW, once you select your phone model on http://www.getjar.com/, every app will have a "vote tally" that counts how many percent of users reported success/failure in running that particular app on that phone.

Just debranded my c905a, can't geotag

    Hi All,

I bought DaVinci and ebranded my C905a from AT&T. Everything works perfectly except that I can't use Geotagging. Why is that?

Also I did not do my homework and chose the UK version on the DaVinci list, instead of the American version that everyone on the forum says to use. Does that affect the geotagging feature?

    Thanks,

    Peter

So the C905 won't give me those speeds if it is not a C905a.C905i will pick up Edge only, and still won't be able to surf the net on the laptop. But the C905a will pick up the American 3G, and laptop surfing will be better.Do I have this down right, folks?Or am I still confused?
and the Difference will be very noticeable?

Depends on the network, the c905 will be just as fast as a c905a on Tmobile (EDGE) but will be slower then a c905a on AT&T (since c905a 3g works on AT&T).

Incorrect, you will be able to surf the net tethering with EDGE, but the speed will be slower then the 3G AT&T offers.

Only with AT&T 3G, it will be the same on Tmobile.

I use Opera mini 4 with EDGE and it is plenty fast, I am unable to stream Youtube consistently which 3g would give you, but once again only if your provider uses those bands.
