Unlimited LOCAL incoming and outgoing calls free to receive long distance calls?
I am wondering about the $7 Pay and Talk One Number Unlimited, which allows unlimited incoming and outgoing calls to any one number. If I set that number to a long distance number, will it be free to receive calls from that number as long as I am in my local area?
It seems like that is how it should work, but it makes such a big deal about LOCAL that I wasn't completely sure.

You NEVER EVER pay extra based on the location of the person calling you. It's ONLY based on your location relative to your home calling area that determines if an incoming call is going to result in long distance charges or not.
So if you choose to set a long distance number as your 1 unlimited number then you can receive an UNLIMITED number of calls from the number for no extra charge while you are still located inside of your home calling area.

We think everyone should be able to afford a wireless phone. That's why we were the first wireless company in North America to offer pay-by-the-second airtime, and why we don't charge an activation fee. NO scary contract to sign. Immediate national coverage. And a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Yes, it's finally time to get a wireless phone.

If you go to the TELUS website it clearly says "Unlimited local talk wih any one number". Meaning if you call them, yes it will be long distance as it's stressing the local thing. A long distance incoming call would still count as local.
P.S. Lol, I copied and pasted that quote from the telus site and they spelled 'with' wrong. hehe :P

Can you really assign a long distance number? Would a US phone number be considered long distance? Or, is "any one number" limited to Canadian phone numbers?

You can assign the number and your inbound calls will be free inside your home calling area. When you try to phone outbound you would only pay the long distance rate, the airtime portion of the call would not be charged.
If you travel to the local area of the number you assign then your outbound calls (because they are now local for you to call) will not be charged but the inbound calls will still charge you the long distance because the inbound call is still coming from your home calling area back to your phone which has now moved to a zone that would be long distance.
