It is slower than the actual computer but that is to be expected. You can tweak settings to get it to be faster. I am used to it now.

Unlimited mobile browsing - on an unlocked phone?

I currently use the Rogers Mall browser to access the web and not get charged since I added the unlimited mobile browsing option with pay as you go. But if I want to use an unlocked phone which is GSM capable from another carrier say Bell or Telus, then would I still be able to access the web and not be charged anything? Are there certain settings I would need to change? (I notice that on my billing, if I use the Rogers Mall browser, I'm not being charged and it registers on the invoice as "goam.com")

TELUS and Bell won't have GSM which is 2G. Their new network will be HSPA which is 3G. Any phone with only GSM 850/1900 will not work on Bellus. It will work on Rogers of course.

Read the STICKIED Unlimited Browsing thread (or search for the previously stickied $7 Unlimited Browsing thread and read posts from 2009. There is probably more useful info on using PayGo in that old thread than the new one which is more for the $10 UB on PostPaid)...

Skarbro - are you just running remote desktop on your phone or is it a seperate app?

Still didn't find the info in those threads guys. I'm considering using a Tour unlocked on Rogers. With my current blackberry I'm using the $7 unlimited option with no issues. I've heard of IMEI restrictions, so does that mean even if I somehow manually enter gorogers apn settings to force a browser through those settings, it won't work with the unlocked Tour?? (It MUST be a rogers branded handset to work??)

If you are using paygo on an unlocked phone, and as long as you are using the gorogers apn, you won't get charged. Right now I'm using an unlocked Nokia N85 on paygo. I use the $7 UL mobile browsing plan and so far I haven't got charged.

Thanks. What are the settings for the gorogers apn you're using?

I have two apps that work similarly. TSMobiles uses the Remote Desktop Protocol - but doesn't work through goam.com. RDM+ uses a proprietary protocol (you have to install a small program on the computer and register with their server), but DOES work through goam.com. It works really well.

Can you post your settings? I can't get it working through goam.com with my s60 device.

It is very simple, it is set up as a Microsoft Exchange account, server m.google.com, username is full gmail address, password is gmail password, no domain, and SSL on.

Previously it would only sync contacts and calender, and mail could not connect, but since google started supporting iPhone push mail through google sync it has been working perfectly over edge.

Not sure if this will help, but good luck.

Much of the confusion would be cleared up if there was a separate sticky for the $7 UL browsing PAYGo plan...
    Carrier: MTS | Handset: Galaxy S3 | Plan: 100 minutes, U/L Evenings & Weekends, U/L SMS, Call Display | Data: UNLIMITED LTE - $16.50

i'm confused and need some help. Let me fully explain first: I have a Rogers K850i on a monthly contract. I've got the "$7 On-Device Browsing" feature (-33% discount) and understood it was limited to using Rogers' browser, not third party apps.

Now, my billing period ended Sept. 26. Bill shows the same $7 browsing plan. A look at "Update my wireless essentials" on Rogers' site shows that I'm still enrolled in the plan, but that the $10 Unlimited Mobile Browsing Plan (3 year term) data option is also available.

I'd rather pay $7 than $10, but I want to start using opera mini5. My questions:

    1) Is my $7 plan still really active, or are they pushing people like me automatically to the $10 plan effective the next billing cycle?
    2) If I stay at $7 (grandfathered?) do I now get to use third party apps like opera?
    3) Are they forcing people who sign up for the $10 browsing plan to make a three year data commitment?! That's what it appears to be.

I'd really appreciate insight from someone who knows for sure. I'm reluctant to call Rogers and ask because I have gotten some conflicting answers when asking data questions in the past, and I don't want to risk losing my little 33% discount which they have mistakenly applied to my account.
    Thanks!
    Jef
