Which ebuddy version can be used with Unlimited Plan? Thanks
v1.2. Thing is, how do you get it?
I'm using the newest one on my nokia n95. When you connect the first time, it'll ask you for your connection and everything, then it'll timeout. My experience with it is, if you press "retry" it'll work. Don't know why that happens but I've been using ebuddy on the unlimited mobile browsing/gorogers for a month now and I have to do this every single time.
Just to be sure, you are using v1.4? I retried multiple times and I still go the timeout message every time.
v1.4.1. Tried it again. Times out the first time and it works the second time.
I have a copy of eBuddy version 1.2 for e71

Hi, first time posting, I read the whole thread and it was very informative, I have a question though.
I recently got a good retentions deal ... now Im up for HUP in both my 2 lines of family plan. Since Im tier 4 or 5 I was gonna get the Iphone 3gs for a low price so today I got added to my deal the $25 - 500mb data package cause to get the iphone I had to get that .... I havent ordered the iphone yet cause Im returning a phone that they sent me(w760) and once thats cleared I can start choosing both phones again.
Im starting to lean towards the non smart phones + this UMB plan for both phones .... so which non smart phones from rogers would you recomend that would take advantage of the UMB at its full potential? I mean msn messenger, youtube streaming, google maps, Facebook.
Any help would be appreciated.
thing with that ebuddy prog is , the text is so dam small!
is the rogers gprs internet down? 6:50am time sunday![]()

Just got my bill and I'm still happy. 25795kb of WAP browsing listed for the previous month. What sort of data usage are you people getting?
hallekz: I'm using a Nokia 5800. I haven't tried MSN or youtube yet but I recommend that you select a 3G phone for the faster download speed. Ideas include the 5800, E71, Samsung Propel, LG Xenon, and others listed in this thread.
RE: $7 UL plan.. couple of days ago paid $7 for UL 'WAP' browsing with Rogers PayGo plan. i have WM 6.1 smart phone device
Then, set up new profile in Data which I named 'GoRogers' with following:
Apn: goam.com
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
Proxy IP: 10.128.1.69
Port: 80
I deleted the internet.com and media.com profiles which Rogers auto installs when you use their SIM from my data connections. ( i set up so that Work and Internet both point to goam.com - don't know if this is required but works for me). (I wanted to get rid of internet.com and media.com (eg these APNs are where you get charged by kb) bc 've already spent ~ $250 learning how expensive PayGo data charges are. and other posts say to even call Rogers to have them block internet.com)
Anyways, using the goam.com, i was delighted to see that I can use pocket IE to browse web. I have surfed a bunch of 'regular' web pages including Google, Yahoo (Yahoo web mail), Google Maps worked too (the cell tower triangulation worked too). So, clearly as others point out it is 'mroe or less' internet access with some restrictions eg no pop, i haven'tchecked https yet though.
The only issue is that fine print says no WM devices (or BB, iphone etc) just Rogers phones. Obviously they only intend users to use little WAP browsers with Rogers 'pre-approved' wap sites eg small data transactions. Fair enough for $7 UL per month I guess.
They apparently monitor which devices are using this UL service (or any of their services) by the device's IMEI number which is hardcoded into phone. IMEI is a fundamental feature hardcoded into a phones that allows it to be identified on phone networks (eg spoofing an IMEI is illegal and apparently can even be used to 'be' another phone so you can listen on others cell phone calls .. i guess paparazzi use this all time.) Some posts here and elsewhere say only time Rogers gets IMEI for your device is when you sign up, but IMEI is clearly integral to your phone's conenctively to any network in world eg they get it with every transaction on their network.
But, alas, poor Yoric, the fineprint says, if you have non-Rogers phone, then instead of UL, you get charged 5 cents/kb. I will be waiting to see what happens. To be charged or left as UL? so, far so good. But tis nobler to be UL.
So to keep an eye on this, with Rogers online account mgmt, you can check your phone's usage of calls, text msg, and with $7 UL, you can check use of 'wap' browsing. I was surprised to discover it is not under data but in Voice & Data Usage *NEW* - Messaging - then click View Transactions History. I copied pasted few lines from mine. The transactions under $7UL plan show up as goam.com (the APN you use to access this).
Date & Time Charge Number Call Description Call Type Usage
10/11/2009 11:44 $0.00 goam.com Data
10/11/2009 11:33 $0.00 A225 Outgoing Call Local Call
No charges for goam.com data .. so far anyways.
Will Rogers make a retroactive charge by kb if they do pay attention to fact that my IMEI doesn't fit their plan?
Will Jon stop his bizarre behaviour and return the $ from his and Kate's joint account?
Will the NASA LCROSS crash into the Moon show there is water on the Moon?
So many questions.
So far, reading howard forum and here i haven't seen anyone say they were charged by kb at any time using $7 UL plan. Just one guy who said his UL service just stopped working (eg Rogers discovered his device via IMEI didn't comply and cut him off).
If you are cut off, will it affect all Rogers PayGo services?
Even more quesitons!
Some users have cautioned to not do this non-compliant use of $7 UL with monthly plans, just wiht PayGo eg with PayGo they can just take your balance, with Monthly they can add to kb charges to your bill until they reach up into the sky!
Like to hear of any retroactive charges or people being cut off bc they were using devices that didn't comply with fineprint! What you say?

I was backcharged $1999 for using PAYGo data. Better stop now and return your WM phone right away.
Carrier: MTS | Handset: Galaxy S3 | Plan: 100 minutes, U/L Evenings & Weekends, U/L SMS, Call Display | Data: UNLIMITED LTE - $16.50
thanx for answsering, Im looking at the w705a it says it has youtube n facebook apps embedded on the phone even dedicated buttoms I believe, so I might get 2 of those cause my account hasa 2 lines on family plan (my girl n I) and if I HUP both together I can get a very lowww price since Im tier 4 or 5 since my last HUP. Any other suggestions of phones that work with the $10 UMB plan and also have wi-fi and 3G. I'm also leaning towards the HTC magic but I dont know if its compatible with this plan.Originally Posted by Bob5593
Also, yesterday thinking I could get an Iphone at 175 I added a $25 data plan (-$5 credit) but since data cant be shared .... Im thinking of switching the data plan for 2 UMB $10 add ones ... Can they do that, I mean, Can they eliminate the data request and put those 2 add ons of $10? since the plan was set to start in Oct 22 2009 I mean I havent used it yet .... nor do I have an Iphone order yet .... cause I have to wait for the first phone they sent me is received back since I regreted ordering it after it left Rogers.
Has anyone else been back charged for using a WM or other unapproved smart phone on PayGo UL browsing plan ?Originally Posted by Derfel

No - dozens of people have been backcharged huge amounts of money for abusing this WAP loophole. So everyone who has just started using it would be best served by STOPPING RIGHT AWAY before you find yourself thousands of dollars in debt to Rogers.Originally Posted by Phoenix713
STOP USING WAP ON INELIGIBLE DEVICES... OR ELSE.
