Here's a couple of basic questions, how do I get the App's to my phone? Download direct to the phone or computer first, than load onto phone (which i have to figure out how to do too)? I so Don't use my N95 for what it should be used for, but think i'll start playing around with it more.
Where can I watch Youtube vids? I can't seem to get it to work on the rogers browser built into the phone will opera work or something different?

    Thanks for any info guys.

So I spoke to another rep at Rogers today who said I could go to Youtube but not watch any videos. If I did, data charges would apply.
How can they advertise you can go to web pages like Youtube but not watch videos??? What else do people generally go to Youtube for?

Depending on your phone, some have a direct link to YouTube. Its under the Friends link. Phones that have the link have always been able to watch YouTube, with it being included in the ULB plan. Other phones could sometimes only watch YouTube by bookmarking one first. My roommate has an LG Vu which is very similar to the Xenon. He had to bookmark to watch vids and never had any charges....

***Thank you TREATZ for this STICKY.

    Ok, what is up?

Right now I have the iBrick on the $7 plan on prepaid, I cannot watch streaming videos, so now this plan will change to $10? and then it will allow youtube and streaming?

use your brain before you use you keyboad bub
im not going to dish out $80 per month just so i can stream videos at EDGE speeds.

try again. don't hate just because i am using the original iphone while the rest of you cannot because the iphone 3g and 3 gs are filtered and blocked by Rogers.

    sent from my 4gb iphone
OH and by the way... The iPhone browser sucks..., Safari on the iPhone is not even close to what I can get on a Netbook... every 2nd web site required FLASH. I cannot even check grocery store specials or even Best buy in store product availablility...
iPhone is an overrated toy and not worth $80/mo IMHO

So why did you bother to get one then?

I'd be tempted to switch to a plan with my WinMo phone... but I have such good things going on in PAYGo land... and I'm only paying $7 for it!

If you think its jealousy that I'm telling you to get a real Data plan then give your head a shake. Have you ever had a Data plan in your iPhone 2G? Trying to run apps through goam.com must be a real pain. Yes, I understand you only get EDGE speeds, but there are Smartphones that only get EDGE speeds and they pay for expensive Data plans. Most have way crappier browsers than the iPhone. The browser on the iPhone is consistently considered the best phone for browsing, even though it still lacks flash. Between the iPhones, their Internet traffic accounts for over half of all cell phone internet use (the iPod Touchs account for another huge chunk, all using the Safari browser, but using WiFi). If the browser was so crappy then people wouldn't use them so much. Maybe it sucks more browsing on EDGE and using goam.com. The iPhone or any phone is not going to replace a Netbook. No one said a phone is better that a Network. It isn't. But a phone fits in a pocket (or MY purse when I carry one). Does a Netbook fit in your pocket?

Now that Customer Relations offers the 150MB/$15 Data Retention plan, a lot of people with EDGE Smartphones can get that. Also perfect for people who don't go over 150MB. It is twice as much as the $7 Unlimited Browser, but if your paying $10 for the new ULB, why not spend $5 more and get Data that is unrestricted to what apps you can use? Why use goam.com on your iPhone 2G when iPhones have their own special APN that is possibly a bit faster than internet.com?

You too can think about what your saying as it sounds like you're hating on the 3G speeds that I and many others get, Bub...

****All my posts are done on my HTC MAGIC or iPhone 3G using my 6GB Data plan....

$15 retention data plan would be perfect for a 2G iPhone!

I don't see how people are complaining about the speeds on goam.com... I get 500k/s with speed tests using the $7 browsing option with PAYGo...?

I'm also not sure why they $7 plan thread was unstickied... it still applies to PAYGo users. Mind you, PAYGo users get the shaft often enough that we've gotten used to it... heck, we'd love our own sub-forum but that never seems to happen either...

Got a question about the speed. Is it capped by the provider, or capped by the phone's capability? Like, if you were to get a 3G non-smart phone such as the K850i, would you get full 3G speed and be able to steam youtube like a crazy mofo?

I was wondering the same thing...

I don't have any generation of the iPhone nor am I an iPhone/Mac fanboy but if the poster hates his iPhone so much and says that it doesn't do what he wants it, why is he still using it? It must do something that he needs it to do besides making/receiving phone calls and SMS.
Fido (monthly plan - personal/data):Novatel Wireless MC950D or Nokia CS-18

Rogers (pay as you go - Canadian prepaid): "Fido" LG Nexus-4

Rogers (monthly BIS data plan): Blackberry Q10

Red Pocket Mobile (US prepaid): Sony-Ericsson c510 or Sony-Ericsson w300i

T-Mobile (US prepaid): unlocked Fido iPhone 3GS 32GB or "Fido" Samsung Nexus-S

The poster (she, by the way, not he) keeps her iPhone 2G cause she can use the Unlimited Browsing on PayGo. She gets partial usability, can't use the iPhone 2G to it's full potential, oh but she's saving money by not getting a real Data plan. I understand she's on PayGo. But one of the only real reasons to be on PayGo is for the ability to use smartphones and non Rogers phones.
PayGo really needs some other option for Data. Other Cell providers offer prepaid real Data. Why doesn't Rogers? It wouldn't be as cheap as the ULB is, but being able to use internet.com would be great as some apps just don't work on goam.com. And, if Rogers starts filtering IMEIs on PayGo, they will need to offer other options.

150MB/$15 Retention Data plan is the way to go on an iPhone 2G (or other 2G Smartphones or low Data users)....

Strange I use my Rogers Nokia E71 with this plan and the online account shows no compatible device. It was debranded so I removed the Rogers Internet and just kept the GoRogers for connection. So far I've used quite a bit of 3rd party program and spbTV on it, not sure I'd be charged.

Quick question, as I seem to be getting conflicting answers. By using the GoRogers(goam) APN on the blackberry pearl, could I keep my UL browsing plan?
