    Trouble flashing Keybo to Telus

I have been trying to flash my Keybo with the telus firmware for the last couple of days using this Post. I have seen the Telus keybos and I am disgusted with the firmware differences in Koodo's version. (so many things removed, but why!)

I have a few questions. Do I really need LGNPST lab, or is store good enough? Doesn't lab just add extra features that I am not using. I just want to flash.

Also, it is mentioned that it seems to only flash with the vx10000 dll instead of the vx9100 dll. I have 9100, but for the life of me I can not find the 10000. I have found the actual .dll file, and have tried to register it into regedit with scripts and by hand but LGNPST still does not pick it up. Is there an MSI for this?

When I try to flash currently I get a bad file name error. However, the file is renamed correctly according to the above post.

    Thanks in advance.

    Solution found!

I have sucsesfully flashed my phone to the telus firmware. I will provide a step by step guide of what I did to do it.
    • Get The LG USB drivers and Bitpim 1.0.5
Manually set up a connection, and back up your media, ringtones, and anything else you fear to lose (contacts, calender, etc)
    • Get CDMA Workshop. ( Google, get from the official site)
Use this to back up your NAM, and recieve your spc code. The demo will work fine for this
    • Get LGNPST Store or Lab level. Both will flash. (Google for it. 1.1 and 1.2 store are easily available and work *Moderators Note* As LGNPST Is not publically available for free download I Have removed the links as per the forum rules
    • Get LGNPST VX10000 dll msi installer.
    • Get The telus firmware, Look for CX91TE09_00.bin and rename it to LG91TE09.bin

Heres a step by step on how to use LGNPST for those who do not know.

    • Remove your SD card
    • Connect your phone to your computer and install the LG USB drivers if you have not all ready.
    • Open up LGNPST, and select the com port your phone is on (Only one should be in the list unless you have more then one phone connected).
    • Go to file, Select dll/driver, and choose VX10000 (Again should be the only one in the list)
    • Choose your phone in the list again. Now under the provision tab, you should be able to click on the folder icon next to BIN file. Choose LG91TE09.bin.
    • Click start. The whole process takes about 30 minutes.

When it's finished It will do a final reboot. You will notice some problems with the phone. (No green selection bar, etc). You can fix this by resetting the phone to default settings under the security menu.
    • The phone will no longer reconize your media on your SD card. Insert your SD card into your computer, and rename all the my_pictures to MY_PICTURES. (the music seems to work fine in lower case, everything else must be upper case)

    • PROBLEMS
    • You will no longer be able to play music, as the Telus phone has a java music player that was not included in the flash. You will need to get a friend with a Telus phone and copy it over ( along with Telus navigator, or anything else). I have not yet done this, as I do. I will post guides on how I did it.
    • You can not change phone "Themes" although the Telus folks seem to be able too.
    • the green menu icons are ugly, IMO.

1.Look for the BREW script in the .RAR(.scr file if I remember) it will install JAVA apps (Telus Navigator and Media Player) can't provide any help right now because i'm stuck at job but there is a brew script option in LGNPST..
2.You can't change Themes at all with Telus.. Only Verizon's users can but their firmware sucks anyway so no big deal lol

Thank you very much Kopernic. I didnt even notice those files :P

Is there any easy way to put new Java apps on the phone? I've read that you can replace old apps with new ones, but as the only ones I do have are Telus music player and Telus navigator, I don't have many options (And I cant seem to download more)

You can easily download apps now.. Telus unblocked their proxy i guess.
I'm not even charged for downloads from 3rd party free store like getjar.com
If you don't have unlimited web browsing you'll be charged for bandwitch

    Hey lungdart,

First of all, thank you for posting the tutorial. I have been wanting to flash my keybo with Telus firmware but didn't have proper instructions. Now I can. Thanks to you.

Secondly, did you figure out how to play music? From your last post, it seems like you did. Do you mind posting the step by step for that as well? Once again, thanks for your help.

In the file with the flash bin, there is a brew folder Go to >Brew>ams and copy those files from the download to your phone in the same location.

I used bit pim so I had to do it by hand. Create a folder called 11 create a folder called 12, add all the files to each folder, and rewriting the to info files as well.

Reboot the phone and your good to.

There is an SCR file, but I didnt play around with that. Appearntly it is a type of script that should ad files to your phone for you. Frankly I trusted my by hand approach better.

Hey, I was about to do the Telus flash for my Koodo LG Keybo, and I'd like to thank lungdart a lot for that tutorial. BIG help! What do the SCR files do for you exactly? Don't quite understand how they add files for you... Also, I was reading in other threads that people had to replace programs on Telus with java games to get games to work. Is there any new ways to do this, or has anyone found out how to make more applications to replace (Since there are really only 2)?

the SCR is a script that install the Telus Navigator and Telus Media Player in one click.. no need to transfert them with bitpim.

And for the apps/games, it is now possible (since about 2 months ago) to download and install .jad files from the keybo's web browser.. so if you have unlimited browsing you can download any apps you want at NO EXTRA FEE !!

How do you use the script? I've been reading a lot of the tutorials that people have made, but I don't know how to make a script work...

Also, I read somewhere that unlimited browsing doesn't cover the online stuff you do with apps you can download... true?

Use any other program that uses the internet? Look at streaming videos like youtube?

Also, scanning through some other threads, there are some people that wanted to see what the contentInfo and executionInfo looked like when you had a bunch of apps and games installed. I think it's great that you can just go on the net and download them into the phone directly, but if you have games that you can't find a download link to, you would have upload it onto a site, or does opera on cell phones support FTP? Maybe I could upload them on a FTP server then download them that way? What do you think?

yeah youtube works fine (but still sucks on mobile..) no charges!.. lol
and yeah I was one of the guys looking for contentinfo files.. but useless now.
If the game/app is not avalaible as a direct download you can simply overwrite any apps already installed on the keybo
