Change V3m from Altel to Verizon?

Verizon customer support said they will not allow the V3m I used while under contract to be used as a prepaid on Verizon. The claim was that Verizon tech support didn't know how to fix the phones.

I tried to find Verizon firmware for the V3m but couldn't. Has anyone found it and has anyone tried to change the firmware from Alltel to Verizon?

    Thanks a million!

First off is this a vzw v3m or an alltel v3m? From the sounds of it I think it is a alltel v3m.

If it is then the ESN # has to be in the database and vzw is fairly picky about adding other carriers numbers to their list.

Get to a Tier 3 tech and ask them to add the ESN using the E911 exception request form. You may need to tell them the phone was updated to Verizon firmware and give them the s/w version.

If it's an Alltel V3m, odds are good they WON'T activate it. When Verizon merged the MEID databases, they put a provision on Alltel phones allowing them ONLY onto grandfathered Alltel accounts. This may only apply to newer Alltel devices, but you'll have to call and ask FIRST.

DO NOT FLASH THE DEVICE UNTIL YOU ARE SURE THE MEID IS GOOD TO GO! Activation is NOT dependent on software, but whether or not Verizon has the phone in their database. If it cannot activate, the flash will have been a waste of time.

    Good luck.
A phone is only fun when you can modify it anyway you please.

The Verizon UI....unhackable? I think not
