    Sharp SH906i Problems

I just bought a SH906i and everything seems to be working fine; however the signal is REALLY bad on the "CNSimCard Da Peng" that came with the phone and it keeps dying even when I'm outside on GSM and 3G.

What bothers me, is the reception problem(is there a way to make the reception better or is it the Sim-Hack?) and for some reason I'm able to receive text-messages(SMS) but I'm unable to compose/send them..

I just switched out my P905i's sim-hack(i-smart-tone 2008) and tried it with the SH906i and it seems to be working fine, however when I start the phone up it saids "UIM sim is locked" or something like that but I can still make calls and I get reception, weird...but I still CANNOT compose/send SMS/text messages..

Is the problem with the Sim-Hacks or is there a setting I need to change in order to SMS and/or to have better reception?

PS: I'm in Vancouver, Canada. Last question, should I keep it on Auto or 3G or GSM band for Vancouver users?

    Thanks!

If you said you will have a better reception if using another hypersim, then you'd better get a better replacement.
I am in Vancouver also, set your phone to GSM ! and as IonNuke said
    set SMS centre number

You'll have to google for the Rogers sms Center, but the option should be in the SMS/Mail options area. Oh and regarding reception, as long as you're not deep inside a building GSM should be fine. 3G gets much better reception but thats because it runs on a better frequency(850Mhz) for penetrating walls than GSM(1900Mhz) does. Regarding CNsimcard, I use one with my SH-03A and I haven't had to CPR in months, even going into the tunnel downtown on skytrain and coming out. On that note, it seems they only installed 850Mhz 3G on the Canada line =(

    WHOOOO!

Got it If anyones wondering; The number is +17057969300 for Rogers, and +15149931123 for Fido.

I tried with my Fido Sim with Fido # and it worked, gonna try with my Rogers Sim tomorrow

Thanks guys Now I just need to solve the reception problem!

edieboy777, wouldn't setting the phone always on 3G be better though? or would "Auto" be better or strictly GSM?

That is actually the caller ID. The phone numbers have to be stored in a very specific way or the phone will not like it and you'll just get numbers

So test call and see how the format shows up and change all your numbers to that format or start remembering everyone's numbers. Or better yet, read the manual

If your numbers in your phone book don't have the country code for Canada which is +1 infront of it in your contacts, it won't show the names of the caller.

Ie. If your friend's john's number was 416-111-1111 and you put it in your phone book exactly like so. When he calls all you see is +1416-111-1111 instead of John.

So go and add the +1 code to your numbers for the whole phone book.

If this doesn't solve your problem then o.O I don't know. Because thats what I had to do when I still used my Sh906i
Contrary to popular belief I'm not really obsessed or in love with tofu as a food, sure its good and all but I'm not in love with it. Someone else typed this name for me when I was registering >_>

ps. For future reference just qoute me as Tofu instead of the whole name....sounds too cheesy LOL

though its a hassle to copy and paste the +1, is there an easier way to enter that?

    Hello everyone!

So I just go my sharp sh906i yesterday. I've set it up with a rogers sim card and my phone came with a hypersim card as well.
So far though I can't get any signal at all. I've tried playing with the settings and switching the card around and so far no luck at all.
Any ideas as to what the problem could be?
