since i cant use this smartphone with cricket wireless here in chicago im wondering if its possible that this smartphone can be used on boost mobile here in the chicago area? and if it is how would i go about getting it activated?
You cannot use a touch pro on boost mobile. Boost runs on the IDEN network, therefore you can only use Nextel or Boost phones on the network
If you want to use a touch pro on a prepaid company, then your best bet is PagePlus. You could use a Verizon Touch Pro on PagePlus and for 40 bucks a month get unlimited talk/text and a little bit of data
yea but boost mobile also has CDMA service, plus i also seen a youtube video of a guy using a touch pro on boost mobile, so i kno its possible, but i dont kno if its possible in my area
Motorola RAZR2 V8 (Back to me again, and for sale. PM for details)
Carrier
AT&T / Cingular

Just because you saw it on YouTube doesn't mean it's true.
He states the truth. It won't work at all. Boost piggybacks Sprint's IDEN network, and a Touch Pro does CDMA. You'd have to switch to a CDMA network or look for a compatible phone.

kc8svs, I figured it was possible. Is there any trick to making it happen? Do I just sign up for Boost unlimited CDMA service and say "here, please activate this phone for me?"
Pretty much, yes. However, it needs to be a Sprint branded Touch pro, with a valid, legal ESN.
wrong! you will have to just get a boost branded cdma phone, look on ebay, you can get one pretty cheap, cheaper the better. start your account with boost, then you go to sprint .com and set up a sprint account online, with your boost number. if you cannot access it the account, start another one with the same number, and open the first one; making the second should force the first to open. then go to activate new phone on your account screen, put in the numbers on the barcode under the battery, and follow directions. may take up to 5 hours for the phone to provision, and every feature to work. I am running a sprint diamond on boost, and everything work perfect
I have a Sprint Branded Touch Pro that I've used on Sprint for the last year. I guess I'm ok there. I just went to ebay to look for deals on CDMA phones I saw on Boost's site. Those folks on Ebay are sure proud of their phones! Seems I can get them cheaper directly from Boost than at Ebay.
Ok, so I need to find a cheap Boost (CDMA) phone somewhere. I will get my current Sprint # ported to Boost. Then go to Sprint.com and do all that stuff? Sounds easy enough.
All you need to do is call Boost with your Touch Pro, follow their instructions, that's it. I'm pretty sure you're not going to be able to port your number though, sorry.
