Do not ask me how to use this. There is plenty of instructions out there already. This makes BB Browser, MMS, etc to work... Dont give me praise for this as I didnt do anything except hack some service books to combine anworms books plus verizon mms to get most stuff working for us on Page Plus. Dont complain when something doesnt work. I just wanted MMS to work on my Blackberry so I took anworms book and added some verizon books. I dont know what all the books are for. I just left them in just in case. So mainly what is accomplished by me doing this is: BB Browser works and MMS works.
PS: If you find this useful, tell Avenue to sticky this thread, otherwise it will get lost in the muck.
Thanks a lot for doing this. I'm fairly happy with Google Maps and the other Google apps, but I know that other people wanted all the bells and whistles.
i honestly dont know. One thing I do know is that this service book will overwrite your existing Service Books so be sure to backup your SB before using this if you have some important ones...
How is your data usage with the BB Maps? Mine has been really low with Google Maps, Gmail, and Google Sync for calendar and address book. After reading about the data leaks other people have been experiencing, I'm a bit leery of messing with my (Anworm's) service book to install additional features. Have either of you noticed your BBs using data when you don't want them to?
A couple of BB's, a couple of Razr's, an LG or two, an old StarTac (personal & family, all PagePlus)
BlackBerry 9000 Bold (work, ATT)
BlackBerry Pearl 8130 (personal)

Phone is a US Cellular Blackberry Pearl 8130 which is now unbranded.
I did the things listed in the PDF.
I now have GPS functioning.
No joy on an 8830 (WE). Already had accomplished all the steps listed (found a similar website to the PDF).
Will try my pearl next week. Would be funny if GPS works on the pearl, since that is the one with the most complaints on GPS in the verizon forums. When BIS worked on my account, my 8830 maps worked where the pearl did not.
Ricka: You can check data usage on Gmaps by help > about > XX kb; bb maps tells you with options > data downloaded. Gmaps uses alot when you first start it up (caching maps and the agreement) and can use 400-500k over the course of an hour when traveling at highway speed (based on usage from my work BB). YMMV, and depends on the zoom level too (zoom in will get more detail and require more updates).
I also use minimoni, which seems to approximate the data I was charged for (give or take 25%, in my estimate): http://www.ehnert.net/MiniMoni/ .

It is simple to turn off data so your not billed till you turn it on.
I havent played with BB Maps much, so I have no idea on data usage. From playing with BB Maps I have used 116.0kb of data. That was probably around 20 minutes. I havent done it while driving..
This is my first Blackberry that I am actually playing with.
