Map, list or press release of "under construction", "planned" and "proposed" towers?
Is there some website I can go to where I can obtain a map or list of towers that are currently under construction?. I have been reading all the buzz about AT&T's expansion and plan to build 2,000 cell sites this year (2009). The rep the other day told me that a new site was being constructed 3 miles from where we live and I'd like to be able to see a map of it or at least read a press release or something. I was able to locate some info on AT&T's news site but nothing matching the location where the rep told me the new tower was currently being constructed.
Probably not going to be able to find much. Terrorists and all.
A start would be the FCC site, as towers need to be registered with them.
There is a site with-in the at&t domain that lists current towers. I don't have access to that at the moment. Suggest that you go to the at&t wireless site and in the search box enter tower and see what you get.
Sorry I can't be more helpful on this.
The information IS out there, tho

Yea I wish I had this, there is a intersection here the whole mile up is like a dead zone/ full bars freak. You will have 5 bars then it will go to 4 then to 1 and to 3 and to 2 then 5, its crazy it drops calls all the time and a lot of tickets have been entered for this area because it affects neighborhoods there too, and its not even a half a mile up from an at&t corp store. The store has entered so many tickets, my friend that works there told me about it. I noticed today passing the intersection off of my right side driving I saw theres trees and a part of land I saw 2 contractor trucks building a large cell phone tower looking thing it was not yet done, not even close to the looks of it.
At this time I could not guarantee this was AT&T, but after I saw the 2 AT&T trucks pass by and go into the sub division that was hooked to that land I pretty much assumed it was them. I know that intersection is a killer to serve with all 4 carriers, lots of dropped calls. I would just like to know if that really was a cellular tower ( I was ready to park and walk my *** off to them and ask haha ). I would love for it to be a tower and improve that area its much needed, everyone in that area has a really crappy cable company, and I know a lot use U-Verse/ AT&T LandLine, DSL, and would love to prob get their Wireless, but its not reliable. So far the most reliable wireless service there is Verizon, but they have some trouble once in a while.
Any words on this?
Thanks
And OP (sorry if I took what you wanted, im kind of seeing if I explined my story, maybe there's something someone else can help us out of we have the area where we think/or know there is a tower being built?"

^ Sure, I did it and have nothing to do with the wireless industry.
Nothing in terms and conditions says that only professionals involved in the wireless industry can take a look at it.

and they will call local PD to have you escorted off the site
There is such a tool. Its call ATT MTI Map Tool. Let's you see towers and frequency's. These are older screen shots but its the same concept. Only thing is you cant access it unless you work for ATT or happen to know some passwords. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1381058

I get all that info from our county's (Mendocino, NW California) Planning Commission Web site, as all sites and towers, including colocations HAVE to go through and be approved by them. I search their monthly agenda and minutes, and I know exactly where every new tower or colocation is going from every carrier, and they always include full coverage maps (the RF kind that the public normally isn't allowed to see), blueprints, terrain maps, site drawings and layouts, full details, etc. Since these meetings are open to the public, and said public is allowed a comment and review period, these documents and the info is available to all, though like I said the Mendocino County Planning Commission makes the ultimate decision to approve or not approve a site.

MTI tool is the best bet, you'll have to find someone willing to divulge information.
On another note, I have watched an AT&T site get built. If you saw AT&T trucks there then that is a very good start. However, you'll have to make sure they weren't AT&T landline trucks hooking up backhaul for another cell provider. The wireless truck that I saw was a newer Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 that is typically different from what the landline div drives around. I also think I saw a truck with a big heavy duty enclosed walk-in bed, it may have been landline though. There could be some that are similar to landline as well. It's just that you have to keep this possibility (hooking up backhaul for another provider) in mind.
Back when i saw a different AT&T site get built, this time in a Verizon landline area. I saw a standard verizon landline fullsize van parked at it one day. The first AT&T site I was talking about was located somewhere on the border of Verizon and AT&T landline areas, I have no idea which company is providing backhaul to it.
