Exclamation LG Versa V07 Firmware VX960V07 released

    Greetings all,

I was on with Verizon support and they told me on Tuesday V07 was released which resolves a rhapsody-to-go issue. Before I run to the store, does this sound right? I have V04 and never heard anything about V05 or V06. Can anyone confirm? The local store is painful to visit as lines are long, etc.

    Thanks all,
    DaveR

I'd suggest calling back to the store to make sure, and then call other stores just to verify.
=> Read my reviews for the Samsung Droid Charge, HTC ThunderBolt, and Casio G'zOne Commando.

    => VX8000 at Disney World:Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.

It's true. I got the update yesterday. Here's a pic:

I had him read down the list of updates that it included. It was a ton of bug fixes, but nothing that sounded like it concerned me. Everything from issues with the display of song titles in Spanish, to flash errors and crashing on weather.com. I got the update because v3 locks up like hell. Let's hope this is better.

The dial screen seems to be a lighter shade of brown.

Also, it didn't kill my bookmarks like the v2->v3 did, so it's likely not THAT big of an update to the browser. All I wanted were bug fixes anyway.

Re: the jump from v4 to v7, he said that many times if there are a series of smaller updates done, sometimes the updates will not go public as there can be a cost associated with this. And they will wait until there are more fixes before they release it. This, according to him, is why v5-6 were skipped. So there may be even MORE updates than what he listed, but he didn't know.

So far, no crashes, but it's only been about 18 hours with no web surfing.

    Hope this helps!

    THANK-You THANK-You for the confirmation!!!!!

So, based on what the Verizon rep read from the release notes regarding the Versa now supporting Rhapsody-to-go, I feel pretty darn confident that it will work again.

BIG THANKS for proving that V07 is for real (I still can't believe they jumped from V04 to V07).

    Thanks all,
    DaveR

You're welcome drosenth. I should have had him print those new updates for me at the shop so I could post them here, but I was in a hurry. Maybe when you take your phone in, you could do that?

As we all know they don't always have the feature list for an update, but they OBVIOUSLY do with this one. As we all ALSO know, it can take some poking and proding to get info. I had to convince the customer service gal that she needed to double check to see whether there was a new version. She was convinced mine was updated because she had v3. I told her v4 has been out since like June.

    Anyway, good luck with Rhapsody!

Whoa, a bit off-topic, but how do you have the 51250 PRL given that VZW is a ways past that version at this point.

PRL is essentially what lets your phone know where the VZW network is, where the extended and roaming networks are, etc. http://www.answers.com/topic/preferred-roaming-list

Generally you get an updated one any time you activate and program your phone, or do an update via *228 option 2 (or basically any option of *228), which is recommended to be done at least every couple of months. At this point VZW is on something like 51567, with each update going up in numbers by a bit, so something like 51250 that's on your screenshot would seem to be quite old--looking back at some PRL threads it's actually not as old as I originally thought, but a bit over half a year old.

I got this update yesterday. It still works the same for me.
I'm dissappointed that even with this update, vibrate doesn't work when you take off haptic feedback.

None of the 4 stores near me, spanning about 60 miles from each other, even have this update yet.. Kinda makes me mad to be honest. One even said that they "might not have it for a month, if it even exists"... So, if anyone is able to grab the file and post it, it'd be appreciated. The monkeys at the stores are pretty much idiots...

Here are the items addressed in this software:

    · Fixed a lock-up issue that sometimes occurred during password input for BREW applications with the virtual keypad
    · Fixed an issue in the browser where the game module shortcut is displayed when the module is attached
    · Fixed a reset issue that occurs when a user selects flash contents at weather.com
    · Fixed an issue where sometimes the control button is not displayed at m.youtube.com
    · When phone settings are on save to memory card on video..sounds and pics….and you receive a video message and try to save it.. A error pops up saying phone memory full. You have to set save option to phone memory..save video to phone, then transfer video to memory card. instead of just being able to save it to card.
    · While playing music…you can adjust the volume to make it play louder. It has 2 settings, playback volume and master volume. If you change the option from playback volume to master volume and try to set anything….the phone will freeze up and you will have to take the battery off and put it back in for it to work.
    · Fixed a lockup issue that sometimes occurred when receiving a video message and picture message simultaneously while running a BREW application.
    · Versa is unable to authorize with Rhapsody software. Device originally authorized just fine, but is no longer able to sync subscription music and will not authorize at all. Pops an error message "Cannot authorize at this time, please try again later" when attempting to authorize.
    · In some cases, Voice Command audio transmits through the phone speaker instead of Bluetooth Car Kit’s speaker. Fixed
    · When adding an event in the Calendar with the device being horizontal and without the keyboard attachment. Whenever you add a space in the subject line it exits the edit screen.
    · An error message would occur when downloading some music files with Spanish names.
    · An error message would occur when downloading songs with accented characters in the title.

    · VZW portal page is not fitted to screen size.

    · While in the browser, customer can only type one letter of any password in on the touchscreen and must use the keyboard to continue.
    Internet talk is cheap.

Man up, Show up, or Shut the @#$! up.

Here's another update that is really MAKING ME HOT. There is this unavoidable autocompletion for when you enter any symbols. For instance, if you write "$1.50" once, from that point forward, whenever you enter a "$" from that point forward, it will automatically stick a "1.50" on the end!!

    ******* ******** <- do your best.

I was hoping I got rid of that crap with the first enV. I searched everywhere for an option to turn it off, but I don't see anything. The only way to kill it with the enV was to format the phone and start over. So from now on, whenever I enter "=" it will always put a ")" afterwards... forever. LG just made me hate this phone. PLEASE say you guys have found a fix.

It's been present on pretty much all of VZW (LG) QWERTY phones that also support T9--T9 is what makes it memorize that. Basically you generally have a couple of options to deal with that--you can set your default message entry mode to Abc instead of Word and/or you can access your phone via BitPim and delete the T9 dictionary which will reset the memorized words (like the ones with symbols, but also any other ones that you might actually want to have). Unfortunately there's no way to edit the dictionary and remove or change words--you can basically just add words via the phone itself or delete the whole thing (the phone will recreate the default one after that).

Brilliant solution! Didn't know you could access the T9 dictionary with Bitpim, so I'll have to look that.

I apologize for my rant earlier. I was pretty fuming, but for understandable reasons. Backwhen I had my enV I used the calculator on a pretty crazy equation that started with ( and from that point on, I could never used parentheses in texts because of the 10 or so symbols that followed.
