    Mass Storage Mode Not Recognized

I received a replacement Storm (my 3rd) about 2 weeks ago. When connecting the phone to my work computer to charge it - I noticed I didn't receive the usual prompts to view pictures, open explorer, etc... I checked that Mass Storage Mode is enabled (as in MTP), but for some reason the phone doesn't show up in Windows explorer on any of my computers (both my prior Storms did so).

Verizon's answer of course is to wipe the phone and try again...

Is it worth doing so ? Since this replacement was done in a store - the tech copied over the phone numbers, and I loaded all the software and settings manually (to get a "fresh start").

My computers see the phone - it shows up in the BB device manager, I just can't see it in Mass Storage Mode.

Did you try...Options> Memory>Auto enable mass storage when connected - Set this to "yes"
Had the same problem and this is what fixed it for me

    or

if you have done that and it doesn't work, try here and go to post #19

Mine wouldnt recognize the device memory as a hard drive anymore so i went into (phone unplugged from pc) Options-Memory, then scrolled down to Total Space below (Device Memory) and clicked it, brings up a menu, i hit Repair and No for backup clusters, after it was done i plugged phone in pc and pc sees both device memory and media card as hard drives again.

Let us know if this helps ya.

Thanks for the suggestion - but when I clicked on Total Space and clicked - I didn't have the Repair option in the menu; all I had available was Reformat, and Remove Media Card (along with the standard options: Full Menu, etc...)

    I'm on 4.7.0.148 - isn't that the latest "official" version ? Perhaps I should upgrade ?

The 'Repair' option must be an added feature in 5.0 then. I didnt realize that.

Unless someone else comes up with a good workaround, wiping your phone isn't too big of a deal. The BB Desktop software can back up your phone's info (address book, calendar, messages, etc.), and there are quite a few tutorials out there that show you how to back up your third-party apps if you have any. It's really a painless process. All your photos and videos should be stored on your SD card so no worries about that either.
If all else fails the wipe should do the trick.
