Data working and not working appears to be caused by the login not happening the way we want.

When I first use my Berry, it takes about 45 seconds to login, I usually have to open BB Browser and try to go to a site, it will then attempt to login and about 30 - 45 sec later it will start working. If I keep a background connection by using GMAIL app, I dont loose my connection but if I shut it down, the connection closes and I have to wait for the phone to reconnect later on (3 - 4 hours goes buy).

If yours is behaving differently, recheck your settings..

In order to get data working on some Sprint berrys, you might need to write the following file to it (you will need to reprogram your phone after writing these files):

8330 BB Sprint to PagePlus GPS.qcn

8130 Sprint to PagePlus with GPS.qcn

For those that dont know, pay attention to the button "Read and Save"
Save means to create a file.
So when you are prompted "for" a file, enter the name you want to save the file as and click Save

I got voice and SMS working on my old Sprint 8703e, but I'm having problems with data. I did the M.IP and PPP updates, went to the ##SPCDATA screen, and started the changes, but ran into a problem.

On my phone, I don't have a SIP User ID field or a SIP Password field. I also don't have a DMU MN Auth field. Is there somewhere else I can change these values or is there something I need to do to enable these to show up? Do I need to contact Page Plus for any reason to enable EVDO?

On a side note, I also noticed that the User Profile Index is 1, but on the QPST M.IP tab, I edited profile 0. Are those 2 different things?

EDIT - Forgot to mention that I have a MIP User ID on the screen instead of a SIP User ID. No password field for it.

Doing the things listed in this thread can possibly corrupt the CDMA Service Programming area of the phone. You take full responsibilty for any damage you might incur due to the following any of the information in this thread.

I'm pretty sure my phone was like that when I started. At least it was like it once I unlocked my phone and first went to the ##000000 screen. Just curious if anyone else has seen the same settings on their Sprint 8703e. And I'm not concerned about damaging the phone. It's been sitting in a drawer for over a year and didn't have any value to me until I started doing this work

backup your existing settings using QPST.
I will send you a file if you PM me your email that you can try writing to your 8703, I dont know if it will work for the 8703 but since you dont really care, it is worth a shot. It is a qcn file I use to convert the 8330 Sprint to PP. It enables both the SIP and MIP fields on the 8330. If it works, post results, so I know wether or not to use it for the 8703

Ignore the DMU MN Auth field from the guide, it only appears on some blackberrys

You need to set the active profile. I usually edit profile 1 or create profile 2 and set it active.
