I've had two Barrage phones since Monday and have tried out the different features.
The PTT works fine, but the normal call quality doesn't sound good through the earpiece speaker. Sometimes its really weak, despite the volume being turned up, and other times is louder. I have yet to find out why this is.
Also, the phone feels like a rubbery toy, unlike the Casio Boulder.
I hope the Rock is built like a rock, and not like a toy.
=> Read my reviews for the Samsung Droid Charge, HTC ThunderBolt, and Casio G'zOne Commando.

    => VX8000 at Disney World:Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.

I know you critique phones for a website and I value your opinon, but I dont think it feels like a rubbery toy.
It fees solid and sturdy to me, much more like a nextel type phone.
Also, you state the vol. goes up and down, well guess what? I had the same problem with a couple boulders.
And the earpiece sound quality is much clearer on this phone.
Did I get the only half decent one there is?
I will be checking the Rock out when it is avalible also, but for now this one seems like a good phone.

That was pretty much my take on it...sometimes it work but mostly not.
After four days I just could not take anymore.
I agree it feels no where near the quality of the Boulder.
I would be shocked if the ROCK didn't follow normal TANK like qualities.

I posted about how good this phone worked with my stereo bluetooth headset so I have no reason to think it wouldnt work great with a regular mono earpiece.
Im getting ready to test that part out.

Just paired my LG HBM-730 bluetooth up and it works great, voice command, answer and end call, and volume.
    Hope that helps.

I like the signal strength and I also like the ability to answer a phone call on speakerphone by pushing the smart key, also being able to read text on the front screen.
I really like the phone, but, it is a little big, compared to the samsung smooth I was using!

Well it appears the phone has been pulled here in California too. Hopefully it returns with the earpieces fixed.

I sent Motorola an urgent complaint on the issue through PlanetFeedback, so hopefully someone got the message and is working on it.

Other than the earpiece, it sounds like an amazing phone.
A phone is only fun when you can modify it anyway you please.

The Verizon UI....unhackable? I think not

You think they pulled the phone, why? Because of the out of stock?

Yes, let's face it, Verizon's PTT does not appear to be grabbing huge followings. I can count the number of people I've seen with V750's and Boulders on one hand.

For the Barrage to have sold out that quickly after release, it must have sold like hotcakes. I'm hopeful that Motorola is testing the phone further to make sure future phones do not suffer from the same issues.

For those that love the phone and got a usable one for now, it might be worth it to just hold onto it until they come back into stock and see if anything has been fixed and/or an exchange for a new one would be worth it.

Are you serious? Go to stores like home depot and lowes or other home improvement type stores. Just about everyone in there has a boulder or V750 either on their belt or stuck to their ear. Not just there, I was just recently at the saw shop picking up my chainsaw. They service and cater to all the landscapers, lawn & tree services around here and again the boulder was everywhere. Oh and also check at the farm supply stores, again you would think that Verizon is the only service provider.

Within the last year, theses phones have became very popular.
The “local” Verizon store is having a hard time keeping them in stock.

From the sound of it, pun intended, the problem with the Barrage could be mis-mounted earpieces. Perhaps they are slightly off center or mounted too close to the speaker grille causing it to rattle. The fact that you can press on the speaker area and have it go away or get louder would support this theory. Heck, I've had 4 EnV Touch's, and 2 of which had that problem. Hopefully it's easy enough to fix and Moto gets the phone back on track.

Even the reviews on the Verizon site point to the earpiece problem:

I am going to hold out for a good part of my 30-days to try the Barrage, but I am thinking I will likely switch over to the Rock at that point. The Boulder just felt like too much more of a sturdy phone rather then the Barrage I have now, kinda feels like a play phone my nephew would have

PS- Rock is due to be released mid-November, Brigade is due end of October. Per an article and screen shot on Phone Arena.

    Barrage

the barrage lets you view texts from the front screen!

    My call quality is fine.

Hinge a little loose when closed.

Will probably look for the ROCK, but I like the fact that this motorola does not have the submarine looking circle screen like the casios do.
