I did not port from another carrier, I am still on Page Plus
I did not port from another carrier, I LEFT Page Plus
Will most likely be porting my number from Verizon Wireless on the 10th of this month and if all goes well porting my wife's soon there after.
Has anyone ported into PP and left? If so, why?

I ported from Tracfone. Locally, I get better coverage on Verizon's network than I do AT&T's network. I'm also getting a better rate now. The network ended up being the deciding factor, I would have paid more for Verizon's network coverage, if necessary.

I started with PP over 3 years ago. I did not port in, I activated an old VZW phone I had laying around.
Earlier this year my wife ported her number to PP from a VZW post paid account.
All signs point to the possibility both of us will be with PP from now on.
This will hardly be a scientific poll, on the Page Plus forum.![]()
I will be porting my VZW family plan around the 10th as well. That's to give a few days before the end of my billing cycle to close the account. Do we all have the same billing cycle??
Different areas of a state/country will have different billing cycles. I am in Central NY and I have the 10th, but if you go north I believe they are on the 18th or 22nd.Originally Posted by Chuck518
im not 100% sure on this, but people ready to jump but not to their billing cycle, if vzw is like most other post-paid carriers, they will simply pro-rate your bill for usage so you really dont have to wait all the way until the end of your cycle to switch... just an FYI...
Yeah, I am kinda stuck. I ported back to VZW on September 1st, from a horrible experience with AT&T, via the VZW website and bought a phone. At the time they offered free activation with the activation fee to be credited within 1 or 2 billing cycles. Well, I didn't like the phone and I am now on month to month with a previous VZW phone. I hoping that the fee will still get credited even though I am not in contract with them any more and I a month to month. I was going to wait until the 10th to see if the fee is credited before I port out.Originally Posted by deathcab
Verizon bills you for the entire month, even if you're only a day into it. They pro-rate if you switch from one contract plan to another, but not when you cancel service.Originally Posted by deathcab
But they pro-rate in a really dirty way. One time I decided to increase my plan minutes because I was going to go over. I had a 700 minute plan and I had already used 650, halfway through the month. I upgraded to the 1400 minute plan.
Well, they prorated my 700 minute per month plan into a 350 minute half-month plan. Then they charged me 40 cents per minute on the 300 minutes over 350, or $120 in overage charges. Then they gave me 700 minutes for the remaining half-month. (The prorated 1400 minute plan for the billing period.)
Needless to say, I did not pay it. Even the Verizon CS rep was shocked at how stupid that was, but had to go to some supervisors to fix it.
Anyway, I'll be with VZW for another 10 days or so...
I ported my KX18 Angel from Amp'd just before they went chapter 11. I was not allowed to port the E816 Hollywood of course.

I just ported in from Boost and so far I'm really happy with it!
I have some PP phones but I will be porting my main line from Boost to PP on 11/8/09!
Home ISP, RR-Ultimate WiFi, $90/mo | Verizon 4G, $30/mo Unlimited
School, $5,000/semester | Work
I use Page Plus for some phones (since I'm a dealer) but I've recently switched my main phone to Sprint SERO because it was only $5/month more for twice as many minutes (650) and unlim texts/data. If Page Plus got a comparable plan, I'd jump on it immediately, but I doubt it's happening.
Was on StraightTalk for about a month. Canceled that and started service with Page Plus; don't have any regrets.
I ported from Virgin Mobile about a year and a half ago. My number started out life on Simple Freedom before I ported it to Virgin Mobile and then Page Plus. No regrets. I just wish PP had account management/info/expiration reminders (both via web and the handset) and website as good as Virgin Mobile's. I also wish PP had a picture messaging pack for the Standard plan like VM does for their low voice usage plans.
