Windows Mobile 6.5 Official Launch On Tuesday

The Windows Marketplace for Mobile should also be available to Windows Mobile 6.5 devices on the same day.

I wonder if that is the reason for the free Touch Pro 2 deal @ wmdeals.com. Maybe they will ship with Windows Mobile 6.5 professional pre-installed?

I hope so. I got a UPS tracking number for my order yesterday, so it should be arriving Tues. Would be awesome if it had WM 6.5 on it, but that's probably wishful thinking given T-Mobiles past track record with updates.

The questons is: Will T-Mobile even offer the upgrade? When WM 6.5 was announced, only 3 providers signed on to upgrade the devices they had out. T-Mo was not one of those.

    I guess time will tell.

I have received S/N of Hong Kong version, that I can grab 6.5 ROM right from HTC Hong Kong, hardSPL it, and upgrade it to 6.5

Non-existent advetising for the TP2, high price, history of not offering timely upgrades, public commitment to android over WM - I think you can pretty much rule out an official 6.5 upgrade.

Thanks to xda-dev, I can have all WM 6.5 goodies that I want. Leo TF3D 2.1 with weather is also nice.

Go Pharos 137, you will get WM 6.5 official upgrade very soon!
For TP2, you might have to get ported WM 6.5 version

This is an over used argument. XDA works for you, but when someone walks into a T-Mo store, is the rep supposed to tell them to go to XDA for their upgrade? Of the 5 people I know with WM phones in my office immediately around me 3 have never flashed a cooked rom and would only use carrier supplied updates.

An official update is tested and supported by the carrier, for some people XDA does not even exist and would not be an option.

I doubt T-Mobile has the update when it's first released, but I think they'll eventually get around to it (it may take some time). After all they are telling everyone that the TP2 is upgradeable to WM 6.5. That implies that there will be an update available for it.

Unfortunately I've had 3 bad experiences with the Pharos 137, so I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole. I hope Pharos thourougly tests the update before releasing it, because 2 of their recent updates had to have fixes for the update itself

I got in on the FREE TP2 this weekend, so even if T-Mobile doesn't release a WM 6.5 update I'll just grab the one xda-developers WILL do.

That's not what he said. He said it would probably take awhile.
I doubt HTC would put up with T-Mobile not providing an upgrade to 6.5 for the TP2. HTC's name is on the phone this time!

Actually 2.1 with weather is pretty stable but Leo 2.5 still has some issue.
