It's free to get the unlock code, yes. I don't believe they're legally obliged to in the US (like Germany and France), but they will.

Hi,
anyone with a global phone like the TP2? I've just ordered an Imagio which is a global phone. If I call VZ will they unlock the SIM card on the phone so I can use a local SIM card while abroad? Are they legally required to unlock it if I ask?
Thanks for any info.

On the TP2 there was a number programmed into the phone for global services. You just call that number and ask for an unlock code for a 3rd party sim card. They gave 2 codes incase 1 didn't work. Took under 5 minutes.
is the number under contacts? ThxOriginally Posted by pjsockett

Super....thanks!Originally Posted by pjsockett
As it sports quad band GSM, it can be used with AT&T and T-mobile here in the states as well (no 3G though). I wonder if with a local sim card put in, can it receive both Verizon's signal as well as ATT/Tmobile at the same time?
In my experience, no. The phone worked with AT&T in GSM/UMTS-only mode, but not in global mode.Originally Posted by taar44
If you lived in this signature, you'd be home by now.
You can't, no phone in the US can use 2 mobile #'s at the same time (that I know of) so you will have to switch in between NAM's.Originally Posted by taar44
I have a Tour and have a T-mobile prepaid sim card in the back which I switch and use from time to time.
