I’m here in the USA. I have a Verizon phone. I’m ready to jump ship and port over to AT&T with an Aussie HD2. I’ve spent the past few nights reading and learning about flashing the phone. There are 2 things I can’t seem to grasp.
1. I go online and place an order for the HD2. While it’s in transit, I go to AT&T and get a basic, non smart phone and set up a plan with voice and unlimited data & text…
When the pone arrives, I need to flash it to get the Australian carrier software off the phone. To start I should probably pick a world wide edition of the ROM software. What I can’t seem to figure out is how do I tell the phone, once flashed with the WWE ROM software to work with the AT&T network?
On my Verizon phone, I can go into a hidden menu and setup things like WAP proxy, Internet user ID and so on. I’ve seen no mention of this with regards to the HD2. Is this because of the fact that all this network specific information is stored on the SIM card and does not reside on the phone. Is this the difference between phones without removable sim chips and phones with removable SIM chips?
Please someone clarify this for me.
2. I’ve read about the gold card method of flashing, SSPL and HSPL. I’ve even made tutorials of each on my PC so I can eventually get the phone to work with a different ROM. I feel like I’m close, but missing the stuff to put it all together. Here’s my second question… When I go to flash the ROM for the first time, how do I know A., know which method to use and secondly which ROM is best for use with AT&T?
Again I hate to sound like a noob, but every experienced flasher needs to start somewhere.
