Other than using your phone to play games, what else would you use the joystick for? I've never owned a phone with a joystick. Maybe some uses I'm not thinking of?

OK. I guess with a touch screen, I would be moving around on the touch screen.
On a side note, I've been following Android closely but never saw up close. Today, I went to a Sprint store and played around with the Hero, very nice phone.

Some/most of us know about Sprite Backup and it looks like they may have a free solution for any of us to be able to xfer our contacts, pics, ringers and stuff from a WinMo/Blackberry/Symbian phone to an Android phone. I thought it was useful info, as I have found that those of us using Dashwire will not be able to do this soon, nor for free.
EDIT: Oh yeah, here's the direct link to get you started.
read more, post less
I ended up spending some time today working on this. Though i chose to not do the sprite backup solution.
My plan is to go from my current I760 to the STD.
The best way for me to do this was to sync my phone with my PC and go from there. I spent some time cleaning up my contacts in outlook(i don't use it, it just comes with office). I then spent some time cleaning up my Gmail contacts, leaving alone contacts I had double of(you can merge these later). I then exported my outlook contacts to CSV and then imported them into Gmail. I then went through my Gmail contacts again and merged the same contacts. Once that was done i exported my Gmail contacts to CSV. Then i deleted all my outlook contacts and then imported the CSV i got from Gmail into outlook.
Now on my I760 I have my contacts how i would like them on my STD(they will be imported from Gmail). Fairly straight forward, just time consuming cleaning up your contacts.
This is something i had been meaning to do for some time, getting ready for android just gave me the best excuse to do it.
I was hoping this didn't get disregarded so quickly! Thanks for catching/carrying it over (this is a pertinent subject as MANY of us will will be leaving WinMo or Blackberry OS and need a simple migration solution)Originally Posted by teddyearp
Sprite Migrate worked perfectly! Best of all it's a FREE solution to migrate ALL your data over to Android
(I did read somewhere like downloadsquad.com that this is only going to be free till Dec but I might be wrong)
Definitely check this out! Now I just need a Droid in my hands.. @rutger13 I can't wait to ditch my samsung i760 for this device!![]()
Another option for transferring stuff to your new phone is Google Sync. It only syncs Contacts and Calendar but it is one step since Android devices can pull info from Google. This is all I need since all my pics, videos, ringtones, etc are stored on my SD card.
My solution of course will lose all call logs, messages, etc. but that is fine with me. I'd like to start fresh.![]()
There's a map for that...
man...i hope its not out exactly on the 30th...i have til nov 17th til i can re-up...i dont wanna sit on the sidelines for almost 3 whole weeks!!![]()
here's hoping to all of you suffering a little bit longer wait, lol..![]()
I know some of my friends have been able to renew their contracts a little bit before their NE2.Originally Posted by MYhofoUSERNAME

The STD will be a big step up. I thought about waiting till next year to get a new device, but im thinking the STD will be enough to last me for at least a year(i have had the 760 for over 2).
They will waive a few weeks if you call tella sales. My wife got her new phone about 2 months early that way.Originally Posted by skatingrocker17
you can use your NE2 18 months after contract start date... or in other words 4 months before your contract is up.

Either way tho as mentioned if you call in you should be able to get it tho, specially if you are upgrading to a smartphone which is more money for them monthly anyways.
I just read that whole thing yesterday on Dashwire. Kinda blows if you ask me now going to a paid service. It was great while being free that I will say as it worked perfectly. I still may go that route tho once it is released for andriod tho as it is a pretty nice and stable piece of software IMO.Originally Posted by teddyearp
Curious anyone know if this Sprite thing will work right tho. Only reason I ask is I'm guessing it is for 1.0, 1.5, or 1.6 Andriod currently. Wonder if it will need to be updated for 2.0 so it works correctly. I know alot of the current apps in the market place do not work on 2.0 yet as they still need to be updated. And without us knowing squat about 2.0 yet I wonder if anything has been changed that would affect this idea.
older thread had some discussion on 'world' phone capability. Concensus was that it DIDN'T. However, this being sometime later, is there any real info from our sources confirming or denying this, or is it still mostly a guess?
