A little less than a year ago I purchased a HTC touch diamond with Telus and at the time they offered me a $15/month unlimited data plan with the phone. On my bill it shows up as "Pers'l Email, IM & Web 30 50% - $15.00" I sincerely hope that I will be able to use this data plan when the iPhone is released. Has anyone heard anything about this?
the simple answer is no
And the complicated one? Do you know if they will offer a comparable plan for the same price? Like 2-3gb/15$?Originally Posted by TelusRepGuy82
Even if they did something like Rogers $30 for 6GB promo I might be interested but ideally I'm hoping my unlimited data plan can be transferred as I'm sure many other Telus users are![]()
Of course everybody wants it but it's not going to happen.
The iPhone uses a lot more bandwidth and there will be custom plans put together for it.
I don't know how an iPhone would use more data than a Windows Mobile. Given the right browser with the same level of specification compliance, the same type of e-mail client and configuration, plus the same type of app usage behaviours, the iPhone and the Windows Mobile data usage should be about on par.Originally Posted by x29a
In comparison to the compressed data of RIM data, both are hogs.
I'd imagine it has to do with apps like SlingBox and MLB at Bat which kill data.
how about this?
If you had for example a HSPA device with unlimited data and an Unlocked iphone, assuming you can use and unlocked device on telus. Would it be possible to move the sim to the iphone using the unlimted data plan you currently have?
Willing to ride the CDMA train to the very end
They can pry the ULTD DATA from my cold dead hands
TELUS HTC TouchPro2 - STUDENT 50
TELUS LG KEYBO - YOUR CHOICE 20 - FAV 5
Bell Samsung Link - Über 25 – Fab Five
Verizon Motorola Droid - Unltd Nationwide USA
I doubt that Telus will allow retention plans on the new network.
Telus will not allow it to transfer. They wont even transfer it from a windows device to a Berry.
Work Line: Blackberry Curve
1000 Anytime, 6pm E/W, Unlimited Incoming, Telus to Telus, 250 Long Distance, 500 MB Data, Voicemail 25, Call ID, Unlimited Texting
17.50 + 6.95 + .75 + .12% = 28.22
Personal Line: Motorola V3
200 Anytime, 6pm E/W, Voicemail 3, Call Display, Unlimited Texting
17.50 + 6.95 + .75 + .12% = 28.22
What ultimately happens remains to be seen.
They're talking tough right now but they have no idea what the adoption rates will be.
My view is that CDMA customers don't care about fancy phones: they care about value. When the clerk says "you can have this flashy phone, but the rate plan you've been camping on since 2004 will have to go and we will charge you 35% more for a service that costs us 90% less to provide", clients will tell them to get stuffed.
Give it 6 months. Globallive will come out and put MASSIVE downwards price pressure on TELUS and the other two rapists. Combine that with mediocre adoption rates, and you'll see TELUS flip flop on their policies.
Remember what happened to CDMA data rate plans? It was always $25 for like 1mb or 4mb, then finally they caved to pressure from Rogers and have had $15 UL, $33 5GB, etc. Now they're talking all tough for awhile, but that can only last so long.
In the USA, the wireless providers are going after home broadband. TELUS has 100Megabit pipes to all their HSPA towers. It's only a matter of time before they leverage their investment a bit and open the pipes.
The 15$ data plan was an answer to Bell's 7$ data plan for the touch, it was originally only for htc touch, another htc phone and the bb pearl. And then after it had been extended to every phones. So it's not an answer to Rogers that's for sure.Originally Posted by w4lker
And on the topic, I think ppl should wait and see, the retentions dept. is still gonna be there and I think they will offer you something that please you to go on hspa...It won't be unlimited for 15$ but probably something like 1gb (my guess but I would like 3gb!).
I still can't believe your still so barbaric and use the term "rapist" to describe a wireless carrier. This is clearly an inappropriate term. As a wireless bill is not even close to on par with that type of brutal act.Originally Posted by w4lker
And data will not transfer to HSPA only voiceplans
Do you think calling features such as CID & voicemail will transfer to the iPhone? Telus is going to have to have a pretty decent promo for me to switch to their HSPA network cause what I have right now is pretty good!
and fort the hundredth time 15$ plan will not work on the hspa network
