Ok. Example Zip Code: 04769 - Presque Isle, Maine. If Tracfone runs on Verizon's network, and Verizon offers native coverage in this zip code, then Tracfone should cover it as well. I checked Tracfone's website, and it does show coverage for 04769.
However, if ST runs on Tracfone, why does ST not cover 04769 when it's a native VZW area?
It's covered by VZW native. It's covered by Tracfone. It's not covered by ST.
I'm confused.

So then it's safe to assume if Tracfone's website indicates coverage that Straight Talk would work there as well? Or if it's listed under Verizon's Prepaid Site, Straight Talk would work there?
Is there a difference between Verizon's prepaid and postpaid coverage areas?
There seems to be a difference, yes, it's not a HUGE difference, but there is a difference. Look on the verizonwireless.com website for the nation and click on "prepaid coverage" vs. other options.
Verizon just bought a bunch of towers from Unicel. Straight Talk records probably need to be updated, but the phone should work fine very soon (if it doesn't now) if Verizon's records show it as native area. I don't know for sure if your area is one, but I know they bought towers in Maine very recently -- so this may explain the problem.
Thanks for the response. That does help. If ST truly does operate on the Verizon native network, and we do now have Verizon native coverage in most of the inhabited areas of Maine, then I think it's safe to assume the ST service will work throughout that Verizon native prepaid area.
I wish ST would update their coverage map to reflect coverage accurately.
Thanks.
