    Problems using 1.6

I recently updated my g1 to 1.6 and I'm starting to wish I hadn't. I am using open home and am now having a lot of problems with it.

First of all when using google maps getting directions is very flaky. When I try to load an address from my contacts it will let me select the persons name, but then just goes back to the map screen without loading any sort of directions. Most of the time I have to physically type an address in to get directions to work.

Secondly I noticed it takes a very long time for caller ID to show up when I receive a call (maybe 3 to 4 rings) before the persons name and picture actually show up.

It also takes a very long time to load the dialer, and to open a persons contact information from a desktop shortcut.

I contacted better android (makers of open home) and all they said was that it wasn't a problem with open home. is anyone els having these problems?

1.5 had issues and now 1.6 just builds onto it with more. I had problems with Yahoo messenger once 1.5 arrived and they are only worse with 1.6. I also can't seem to keep a 3G signal anymore after passing through a certain spot in the city, even though I know for a fact that there was 3G there when I was on 1.5! The lag also isn't fixed. I've tried restarting the phone and also wiping. No fix. The firmware is just buggy as hell! I absolutely hate android now.

    Ummmm....roll back to 1.5?

Try removing open home. Pre cupcake I tried open home and it was too buggy for me. If it fixes your issues, then it's a coin toss dump OH and keep 1.6, or roll back to 1.5 and keep OH.

Try it after a soft reset. Seems to work better but goes downhill as time goes by.

I have all of the above problems, along with the worst battery life I have ever had. I used to make it to bed at 11 with 25-30%...now I hit that around 7. It is on the charger by 9. Not impressed with 1.6 at all.

The extended battery will be a good investment. I bought one off ebay (comes with door) and although it will give it a small hump in the back, it's worth it. I don't have data on it, so I keep it at 2g/EDGE with Wifi, GPS and Sync with no complaints.

I am in Cincinnati, so no 3g...the day my phone updated, the phone started acting up. I can live with the minor stuff, that will work out as the few apps I still have are updated, but the battery life...horrible. I will consider an extended battery, but I had to to add the bulk.

So i've decided i am sick of all the problems that come with having 1.6 so i am going back to 1.5. I've tried searching for the "update" online and all the links are dead, now that 1.6 is out I don't think anyones cares about downloading cupcake. Does anyone have an actual working link or the update they could send to me?

    thanks

I actually did find a working download from the link posted below. Instead of searching for android 1.5 cupcake download I searched for how to unroot your G1. (incase you were wondering why i couldn't find it the first time.)

so pretty much the only way to go back to 1.5 is to load the DreaIMG.nbh file first and go back to 1.0 (WARNING: This will take you back to 1.0 and clear your phone.) after that the update file works.

FYI once you load cupcake make sure you delete dreaIMG.nbh from your sd card or els the next time you go to reboot it will just stay on the android load screen and you will have to hard reset again.
