Straight Talk coverage map now includes Alltell areas

This blows out of the water leap, metropcs, and boost in coverage even if some of their plans are marginally cheaper. I guess their only real competitor is page plus? Do they have the same post-alltell verizon coverage area that straight talk does?

Looks to be better coverage than ST. PP also allows roaming whereas ST does not. Granted PP roamin is at 59 cents (or is it 57) per minute, but you at least have the roaming coverage available. On ST you do not. When dialing a PP phone in a roaming area you will know you are roaming because you are asked to dial the number a second time. That being said I have been in a certain PP roaming area twice now (making several calls both times) and have had to double dial but did not get charged for roaming.

3 - Although expensive at $0.59/cpm for roaming, you CAN roam on PP.

4 - There 1200/1200/50mb plan is still cheaper at $30. (ST - $45 unlimited plan is better)

Yes, PP has most Alltel coverage. The only places the Alltel coverage is lacking is where the towers are still not fully online. Unfortunately I live next to one. Postpaid Verizon & PP both dont work well at my home. Alltel works perfectly.

Which are people most likely to do: Wait until they bump into their Amway salesman for that nice brand of hand lotion, or make due with a bottle of Suave they can pick up while grocery shopping at the smiley-faced big box store? I think you know the answer.

It's great that the Page Plus plans are more flexible, and in some cases, save more money. But most people are going to want brand new phones, not the complicated activation of old ones. (Without a local store, where would they go to get them activated?) And for all the complaints over Tracfone/Net10 customer service, PP's domestically based customer service hasn't been pain-free by any means, as of late--there's a long HoFo thread saying as much.

Page Plus isn't remotely mainstream enough to be the wireless game-changer you think it is.

That's a good thing! With a shoestring operation, and no real inventory or advertising expense, PagePlus can afford to offer pricing and/or flexibilty that an outfit like Tracfone can't. Let Walmart sell the "cellphones for dummies" and leave the hidden the gem of PagePlus and its "complicated activations" to us bargain hunters!

From what I can tell, as well, PagePlus is getting a bunch of new dealers on board lately. I think the swell from grass-root dealers pushing hard will help them as well.

Where is the difference? Both use the Verizon network right? Does it have something to do with the Alltel carriers that were not changed to Verizon?

I think there are many more people that do not roam than those that do. So the roaming factor is not a key factor for most.

hmmmmmmm..........I just compared the maps again. Appears that there is no difference. Which only made sense to me before my initial reply because of the underlying carrier being the same. But I could have sworn I saw a difference on the maps at that time. But upon further review......I am wrong.
