Help! Merge iPhone calendar and Exchange calendar

I despise Outlook and do not use it at all at home. I have been keeping my calendar organized on my iPhone 3GS (latest SW v3.1.2 installed) and have not been syncing it to any other program. I use an exchange account at work for e-mail (basically Outlook web access) and have this syncing with my iPhone, and wish to now sync my exchange calendar. I have turned on calendar syncing, and now I have two separate calendars, color-coded to be able to differentiate the events for each. I chose to keep my iPhone events when I turned on the sync, and was never given an option to merge them, which is what I had hoped would happen. That way, I only have to keep track of one calendar and additions/changes can be made either on my iPhone or on my work computer. Is there any way to do this? I can't seem to find a way. iTunes doesn't display a calendar sync option ("No supported calendar application can be found."), but instead has "Your calendars are being synced with Microsoft Exchange over the air" displayed. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I use Google calendar sync at work and at home. I use outlook calendar for work. I use google calendar for home use. This lets me add work events or personal events to one calander and it syncs. This syncs with the iphone calendar with no problem.

I would guess you would need Outlook as an intermediary for the first-time sync...

As in, stop syncing with Exchange (and let it delete the associated data from the iPhone), (using iTunes) sync calendar with Outlook (that's pulling down the Exchange calendar -- make sure it combines all the events), and then delete the iPhone's calendar when you sync it with Exchange (which has all the iPhone events you synced earlier with Outlook).

    Does that make sense?
