    ringtones from computer to phone?

first off i HAVE searched and tried everyway i could think of

sooo i hooked phone up (samsung intensity) via usb opened up card contents and folders are there for pics, music, ringtones, sound, and video

i tried to put a small mp3 ringtone ( very basic old school telephone ring which isnt even on the preloaded tones of which there are very few) well they transfer fine to card but when i go to card after unhooking cable none of the folders show the ringtone.

i read where you could send in a text and save it that way (maybe?) but heres my dilemma, i domt have internet on this phone i could not get it to work , but i can send and receive all texts and picture texts so is there a way to send this from my computer to my phone in anyway? i tried the xxxxxxxxxx@vztext ( or whatever it is cant remember ) and didnt receive anything. i just want to get this simple phone ringing ringer to my phone and thats it. thanks in advance

Thanks robw, I learned something too. I've never sent an email to my pp phone and I didn't know if that would work or not.

Question: once you received the sound file, and then you saved it, did it just automatically show up in your Ringtones? I have a K1m, and it successfully downloaded the file (sent via @mypixmessages.com), it played the sound, i saved it, but its not showing up in the ring tones area. Thoughts?

Did you initially format your card? I formatted card then bought a 20.00 bluetooth dongle for my computer and bluetooth all my songs and ringtones i created to my phone. That was the best ivestment i ever made. I have put ringtones on many of my friends phones that way. Sometimes when u email a ringtone the file may be to big some phones have restictions as to how many kb's it can be. also check in your sounds folder to see if it went there. good luck

No it doesn't automatically show up in ringtones. How did you save the file , which option??

I have env3 and when I send a pix message to my phone that has ringtone in it I just open it and while it's playing I click button for Options then Save as Ringtone. There's also an option to Save Sound too. Unfortunately all phones don't have that option and some phones cant use .mp3 formatted / reformatted music. You may have to use Bitpim for your phone along with usb cable. Took me 2 - 3 weeks to figure out my Banter, but wish you the best either way.

There is just a single option to save the sound.

I did make some headway though, thanks to your (rollo69) post. I had been trying to use P2Commander (and a USB cable) to upload the ringtones. I found the program wasn't really friendly. So I went with Bitpim, and besides being really intuitive, was able to get some new ringtones onto my phone. Not quite exactly as it should, but it worked. Basically, I was able to read/download the K1M contents onto the pc, but wasn't able to successfully upload them. But in doing so, I made a couple ringtones, and was able to send these via the @mypixmessages.com method. I'll work out the kinks, but just the suggestion of Bitpim was really helpful. thanks.

So now when my wife gets a call from her mid-40ish friend (and mother of three from the suburbs), "Ain't Nothing But a G Thing" will play.....priceless. I would like to see her face when she gets that call :-)
