My old phone is an Ace, and I’m now testing the Intrepid, which I got today. Here’s my initial impression:
From the get go I liked it. The touch screen and some of the shortcuts are handy. I like the fact that I didn’t have to connect it via USB to my laptop to successfully sync contacts etc. I simply enabled BT, paired it, and it synced by itself. WiFi was a breeze to setup in my home WLAN. I like the keyboard shortcut for wireless connections which shows phone, WiFi and BT in one screen.
I’m not crazy about the red shift characters in the keyboard – they are hard to see in any light.
Does the phone lag on commands? A little, but it’s better than the Ace/WM 6.1, which was starting to piss me off with its lag.
The voice command feature is always a plus, and now with TellMe it gets even better.
I like the fact that it has a 3.5 mm jack for audio and a mini USB port for data and charging, instead of the proprietary Samsung ports for those.
At some point I noticed that when not using it the screen would dim but would not turn off. I checked the settings and it was supposed to turn off after a few seconds, but several minutes went by and the screen did not turn off. Don’t know who to blame for that one.
The same mod done on the Ace to be able to tether worked on the Intrepid – no surprise there.
Don’t like the fact that I had to remove the cover AND battery to insert the micro SD card. I normally extract it to put in a SD adapter, USB adapter, or a camera, but I guess it’s not a deal killer.
Here’s what a pic taken in Macro mode looks like of the labels in my XPS laptop:

In summary, so far I think I’m going to keep it.
