    Caller ID w/ Name Display

I'm curious to know, has anyone actually seen a name come up? The only thing that comes up for me when someone calls is the number.

The name will only show up if they are in your address book, or
    calling from a Rogers/Fido cellphone or a homephone/landline.

Any home phone landline, or a Rogers home phone?

Don't get me wrong, but what is the point in the service, most people don't have a Rogers landline.

    Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8110/4.5.0.102 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/107 UP.Link/6.5.1.0.0)

It's any landline. It doesn't work for Bell or Telus cell calls unless the number is in your address book. It also does not work on unlocked phones or when the caller blocks their name and/or number.

Doesn't need to be a Rogers landline, any call that originates from any landline should display a name.

Name display functionality totally depends on your handset. Some phones support it, while others don't . There used to be a list of phones that work with name display, but it seems to have disappeared in the website redesign.

Ok so if the phone is unlocked, you won't see the name?
That's another big stuppidity form Robbers.
Anyway mine is unlocked and I preffere it this way.
The softwares that Rogers uploads are old,not the newest versions with improvements at least not for N series
The road to hell is paved with NOKIAS

What do you mean by "N" series?

Your phone has to have these features for the "Rogers Name Display" : aka: CNAP (Caller Name Display) to work

    1. If you use Rogers/Fido cell phone network in Canada
    2. If you subscribed to "Name Display" from Rogers/Fido
    3. Your phone frimware should support CNAP (Caller Name Display) feature
    4. Only Rogers/Fido phones and some unlocked phones have this special feature enabled
    5. Some phones even unlocked support "Rogers Name Display" but the name does not get stored in call logs, only displayed while ringing. (Eg: Nokia E71)

    Hope this helps...

I can confirm it works on non-Rogers handsets.

Prepaid is to contract like a mistress is to a wife. No wonder so many people don't want contracts

Worked on my unlocked N82 before. Works on my iPhone 3G with v3.1.2. However, if you have a lower firmware, it won't work. Works fine for all BlackBerry's too.

Truthfully, the NameDisplay is pretty pointless. Rogers is the only carrier in the world to offer this (from what I remember) and half the time it doesn't even work
