You shouldn't need PC Suite to connect now that the connection is setup in your Windows. Just connect your phone to the USB cable and then select the connection that is already there. I don't know exactly where in Windows 7 Ultimate it is, but in previous versions of Windows you could go into the control panel and select Network Connections and see the connections listed.

Once you find the connection make sure the dial number is set to *99#. Then click connect.

If you want to make sure it goes to internet2 each time, go into your settings menu on the phone to the connectivity tab, select USB, then USB network, then USB data accounts and select T-Mobile Internet. That is the one for internet2.

    See if that works.

I did not know that you can even connect without using PC Suite.

For windows 7 user, what I did is I connect Phone to computer via USB cable and then I power on my computer. After that it connect automatically.

The other way is Jet1000 mention, Network Connection from control panel or lower right corner with network icon. Then click connect. Username and password are blank.

Sure. PC Suite just sets up a Dial Up Networking Connection in Windows and then it just dials that connection. You can go straight to the connection in Windows and activate it if you know where it's at.

Doing so will eliminate so annoying things that T-Mobile did like putting their stupid spinning circles menu onto the phone. If you have any questions about what's involved, let me know.
I can put it off no longer. I've been gathering the courage to try the de-branding thing, while using my TM506 for almost a year after I got my Equinox in the mail. It gave up the ghost a few days ago, swapped the sim card into the Equinox and I see what you mean about the circular menu thing. Annoying is right.

You may have answered this question, I'll keep reading, but I'm having trouble with the A2Uploader, or at least the Russian on the site is slowing me down. Or is that Greek? I can't find the Googler translator thing just yet. I swear, I must seem like someone's grandmother sometimes.

So, in short, has everyone moved on from this corner of the Sony Ericsson universe? Or is there some hope that I'll actually pull off the fabled debrand and land it?

    I did a search for: A2Uploader V9/22/09

Found a file I can pay for at 4shared. $10 for one month of access. Perhaps that's for the premium content, not sure. Good thing I packed a lunch.

Well, I don't know which link you found, but the site IS pretty confusing. Heck, for the other link I ended up downloading an installer for who knows what program cause I couldn't find the *right* download link.

Anyway, I didn't need to pay, but I did need to login before I downloaded. bugmenot is your friend...
I updated the wiki to point to the 4share link I used. I haven't actually used it yet, so who knows what will start on fire.

I was finally able to get the 4share link to work. The first time I downloaded it, the RAR decompressor that jet1000 linked to said it was a faulty file, could not decompress, second time it worked like a charm. Nice little RAR unzipper by the way.

I haven't gotten around to doing the deed however, still working on that. I sorta blew it, not doing this while my TM506 was still alive and tethering. I'm stuck now with going to libraries or other wi-fi spots. Oh cruel world.

Tomorrow I conquer and debrand and stuff.

Once more I try the lonely voice in the wilderness thing. I found some software at this site:

    http://www.fastgsm.com/en/sonyericss...ashing-debrand

that purports to do most of the heavy lifting on the debrand thing. Anyone know about this avenue? I'm not sure if I'm going to learn how to do the coding myself at this stage.

I don't think that debrand will do much. It will likely just restore the default firmware.

Here's a link to a2uploader if you still need it:

Thanks. I'm on a library computer now but will bring mine down later. I'm starting to wonder if my computer is faulty. It's been a pain off and on since I got it. 64 bit, and I keep hoping I'll discover a good reason to have gone that route. It's weird, I download software, a file search affirms that it's on my hard drive, but I can't find or access the file. PETA.

It recently changed to an older version of Explorer, not sure why. I haven't bothered to change it, it might be on its last legs, only 2 years old. Tends to shut down right and left. Oh cruel world. I'll get a handle on it somehow.

Still haven't done the debrand, I'll get around to it, I'm temporarily lazy cuz my new TM506 is tethering fine but I like the Equinox. The camera is good, I like a few features, such as the composition box that pops up in plain text mode on the "1" key. Much easier to see w/o reading glasses (I'm an old fart).

It's also a tad slimmer than the TM506 which allows my favorite carrying case, the one for the Moto V710, to fit w/o any adjustment. The holes for camera and microphone are in the wrong place but oh well. I just take the case off to use the camera, not a major hassle. I'm going to put a hole in the side so I can put the multi-purpose jack (probably a better phrase for it) in the side. Will probably need to make a small leather piece with a rectangle slightly bigger than the jack and sew it in place, else the nylon webbing stuff might fray. The Moto has the jack in the bottom like the TM506. I cut off the Moto antenna snap on loop.

There are more here (way cheap - about $3 w/ shipping included) if anybody wants to try it:

USB Charging Toggle Issue plus more..

Long time reader of Equinox issues here. GREAT WEBSITE.
The USB charging of the service menu got accidently toggled to OFF and I am unable to toggle it back which may be why my PC cannot see the device no matter what mode from the users menu. Accessing the service menu to where the toggle is located only provides for the option to toggle it off and not back on. Selecting "toggle off" again does not toggle the option back to On.

This phone has been down for 4 months due to it locking up on re-boot which coincidentaly began when the Sony Ericsson PC suite was updated to the "new" Sony PC companion. It went through a software update and was never the same. Upon bootup, the phone would behave normally with the Green SE logo, then the t-mo splash, t-mo sound and the signal, then the network name, when it placed a text message notification icon on the screen, thats when the phone would lock up. Neither the keys or the nav-ring would return results.

So I found a wall charger that would mate properly and managed to get a full charge to the phone without the sim in it. I saw where it was full and placed my sim in and went to bootup expecting a lockup. I was surprised that it got past the icon notification and I immediately navigated to delete all messages successfully and go to a master reset, hoping that maybe new firmware would load up correcting the problems that I made t-mo tech and S/E techs aware of 4 months ago.
The camera has intermittently failed to load, however tested ok in the service menu, it loaded once yesterday as a text msg attachment ready for a picture, but will not load from the menu list in entertainment.

There is a single vertical column of pixels that are lit up in the front LED display which remained stationary and lit during the service menu test. The microphone has failed the test which is why I use a blue tooth headset with the unit.
It is currently locking up again on incoming text msg. notification icon display....I have another one, but it will not charge up or bootup so I guess it's back to the 6263 Nokia.

The charging issues with this phone have not all been usb related, there were seemingly always issues when plugging in or unplugging the phone using a wall charger where, to have the phone display that it was or not, in fact, charging. Navigating to the phone status menu item would let me know for sure, because sometimes the charging icon on the face of the phone would say that it was charging when it was not. It's as if, with this phone somethings bogging down the processor, or its running out of RAM or has bad firmware bugs in the code....flashing would not be an option until I get the PC to see the phone.

Well, flashing uses a different set of USB drivers than just connecting normally.

If you go to the wiki located here:

    http://wiki.howardforums.com/index.p...x_Modification

Download the A2Uploader files from the link shown. Then do steps 1-5 of the wiki ONLY. If you get activity in the A2Uploader window as shown in step 5, then you can likely reflash the phone. Do step 11 to exit A2Uploader.

Then you can try to re-flash the firmware onto your phone. I used to use davinciteam, but they don't seem to be around anymore. It looks like ominus has the Equinox firmware:

    http://omnius-server.com/phone?id=87

I think it costs $10 or $12. I've never used them before, but they are recommended by topsony.com.

I don't think there's much else other than a reflash you can do to revive the phone based on what you describe. If it's a hardware issue, that might not even work.

I'm having difficulty turning off 3G on my Equinox. Whenever I go to Settings -> Connectivity -> Mobile networks -> Select network -> T-Mobile (non 3G) it automatically reverts back to the 3G T-Mobile network. I've already disabled the GPS function, so I don't understand why the phone is not letting me disable 3G.

That's not the correct place to disable 3G. Go back into the Mobile Networks menu and select GSM/3G networks. Then select GSM only. It will then remain on the 2G network until you change this setting back.
