When you went in to the USB menu in settings and selected USB data accounts, what data account did you select?

In my phone, when I go to the USB menu it has the option of USB mode or USB default mode. For the USB default mode, I have the phone mode selected. I don't see any options for USB data accounts.

But for internet settings, I connect using T-mobile GPRS. That's where it shows data accounts for me. It lists t-zones GPRS, t-mobile GPRS, t-mobile internet, t-mobile vpn, and t-mobile US.

thanks for trying to help jet!

jet, after adding your menu.ml file and adding those themes, I was able to access the usb menu you were referring to earlier. Now I can connect without pc suite! thanks. I do have an additional question though. I want to be able to add shortcuts to the up and down arrows....I'm trying to follow your instructions but I do have a question.

Where in the customize file notepad am I supposed to add these 3 lines? or does it not matter? I couldn't find any lines that currently had the word shortcut in them.

    thanks

Ok, you don't add those 3 lines. You search for the sections shown (either <shortcut> or <shortcut-list>). In those sections you will find pre-defined shortcuts with type defined as : <type>locked-item</type>

As I said in what you quoted, you need to edit that to change it to:

    <type>standard-item</type>

This permits you to change the shortcut to whatever you want through the phone's settings. In the case of the shortcut list it also permits you to move it up or down the list to the desired location.

If you're not finding "shortcut" in your customize.xml, perhaps the source of your file deleted that section for some reason. But it is easily found in the original customize.xml. As I said in post #42 when I gave the procedure, the original customize.xml file can be found in a link contained in post #3.

For example the <shortcut> section is found under <screensaver> in the <ui> section. If shortcut is missing from your file, simply copy the missing section from the original file into yours into the same location as it was in the original. Make the edits per the above. Copy the customize.xml file to your phone and do the reset settings for it to take effect.

You can use opera mini 5 beta on the equinox. I posted installation instructions awhile back on the Equinox thread, post #27:

Recently, however, we had an account change. We dropped the T-Mobile [MyFaves in favor of more minutes because we seldom used the phone that much and when we did, it seemed we were more likely to call someone not on the favorites. Nevertheless, we changed and I was sent a hit to my phone which disabled the option. In doing so, it seems to have disabled my internet access THROUGH the PC, but it's still fine through the phone itself... I know it happened at this exact moment because I was online and received a text letting me know that MyFaves had been removed and, at that moment, I was promptly disconnected and have not been able to return.
There is another possibility. When they removed MyFaves, they also changed your data plan too. (Once I tried to add hotspot and instead they gave me Total Internet Plan (Grandfathered) on both my phones and charged me 20 bucks for each phone. Took me awhile to figure out what they had done and they did fix it, but....)

I will perhaps try to create a wiki with this information. Until then, most of the needed info is contained in posts #42 & 43 of this thread. If you have any other questions, you're welcome to ask.

Ok, I'm sort of a noob when it comes to pulling apart the SE UI, so excuse my noobness. I've read through this entire thread, and even searched the forums for it, but:

Are there any harmful potentials to flashing your phone? I just got my SE Equinox for Christmas, and I definitely don't want ruin it. I'm mainly thinking about problems such as: loss of T-Mobile warranty, locking of the SIM card, loss of all support from TM, etc. BTW, is the a2uploader available for use on Mac?

    Thanks in advance!

The good thing is, you can re-install the original firmware straight from Sony Ericsson Update Service which will erase any changes you may have done with a2uploader. So if you had to send it in for warranty repair, they wouldn't notice anything out of the ordinary.
