I wanted to get this started,so please put some of those droid does or any other droid type of wallpapers/screen saver in this thread.
i have seen a few cool ones you guys found so please post them here.

im looking for the droid does writing but it just saying droid only. and the red eye symbol of droid icon.

That's what I was thinking. I believe you want to keep the same height but multiply the screen width by two, which gives a resolution of 854(h) x 960(w) for droid wallpapers. Here's a couple I just cooked up (the second is cropped a little more):

I placed my Disney wallpaper on the Droid (that I try on every phone).
It is a picture that I took with a digital camera years ago at 5MP.
When it is on the Droid as the wallpaper, it shows the center part of the image on the (main) center home screen. Then if you move to the left or right home screen, you see the two edge areas of the wallpaper.

Think of it like this, the wallpaper is divided equally into 3 sections (1 left, 2 center, 3 right).

So w/the Sprint Hero and it's five screens, the wallpaper must be as big as Texas...

That sounds correct to me.
And to have the same wallpaper on all 3 home screens, you have to have one large picture with 3 of the images (left, center, right).

Thanks - learn something new every day. I'm going to go for three different backgrounds across my wallpaper, one for each screen. Variety is the spice of life.

Left: Crab Nebula
Middle: Earthrise (famous pic of the earth rising up over the horizon from the moon
Right: Our solar system

Anyone want to make it for me - I think it would look fantastic.

so wallpaper spec's portrait = 854 tall & 1440 wide ?

assuming the same wallpaper gets used in landscape mode ? the orientation shifts and the center 480 * 854 gets used, IF this is so, then a triple picture with different screens would be overlapped on the edges, not very aesthetic if using 3 distinct pix, how ever a graduated color fading scheme could me made that looks really cool.

this is going to take some experimentation.

Working on the sdk, all of the images here it crops, just as wootimtheman explained.
Ill post pics in a minute.

OK, so here's what you end up with, I used the horizon as an example.
NOTE: I down sized the images for posting purposes but I did use the Droid res in the sdk.

When you select the image for a wallpaper, it goes to a crop screen.



And you end up with something like this. (this image shows all three home screens)
It looks basically the same in landscape mode too.
